I was using Vuze for almost 2 years. I turned to utorrent just few months back. The download speed is same in both the applications, there no difference in that. I must say that utorrent is a light application compared to Vuze. The loading of Vuze takes a time. utorrent is quick in loading.

Btw: Why is that a another thread similar to this topic - your best rated torrent client!!!

The golden rule is - never fix anything that isn't broken. So even if other people tell that something is better; so it does not mean you should switch automatically.

Now torrent client is a small application and it is quick to change to a new application. But just remember the motto in life.

As far as your question is concerned, Vuze and µTorrent are both good applications. You will not get any dramatic speed increases just by changing. But as Rameshjee said, µTorrent is very light.

I just want to know how you peoples protect your computer while using torrents. I am not a regular torrent user, I used thrice in my life time. I avoid it mainly because of security concerns.

If you do not download EXEs and other such files that carry virus, you would be safe.

    true.
but when your computer is acting as seed, your Public IP and torrent port information are clearly visible to other torrent users who are downloading from your computer. Also i find no such option in torrent application to hide our Public IP address from others. so these informations are morethan enough to penetrate into network incase the system is vulnerable.

As long as you have a strong firewall and have blocked the access, you can be safe. Of course "safe" is relative. One can never be completely safe.

strong firewall, efficient Anti-Virus and patched system provide 90% system protection. And the rest 10% depends on user awareness and usage. (just my calculation)

What is the ratio of safety when one goes on his/her bike/car to a near by electronic store to buy software/games/music/CDs etc and a chance of him/her having a vehicular accident or being robbed in daylight on the way to the shop?

Also what is the ratio of one's credit/debit card info being stolen by some frustrated employee of a very reputed e-security firm (Syman***) when one tries to buy authentic/licensed software from the internet.

The risk is there what ever you do. But since the torrents are free people download with them with certain impunity.

utorrent is good if you want a very simple lightweight application.
Vuze is good if you want a bigger app with more features and lots of plugins.
Vuze is also open source and has an excellent HD Network which lets you get hi def trailers and small videos easily using torrents.

Vuze is more of a power/advanced user type app.
