Default Torrent, seeding & Trackers

Hi,

I use utorrent 1.8.2. To download, i use to find a torrent from piratebay or mininova. I download them and remove it after download so that i can start downloading others. My plan is ul 750 and with that speed, i cannot use more than one active torrent.

A few posts were mentioning about seeding and ratio, in my case it is mostly 0.15 or something. I limit the upload speed as 1 KBps amd download speed as 15 or 20 KBps that i can browse other sites.

If we do not seed, is it possible that our later downloads are affected?
And can you explain about adding trackers. I never found any such option in utorrent 1.8.2. It has a tab and shows some piratebay url and state as " working ". But there are no option for adding. Please help.

Thanks in advance

If you see in certain/most of the torrent forums/sites, you are supposed to maintain a ratio of upload & download. In some sites its 1:1 & in some sites its 0.7. If you do not maintain the ratio then your future download gets affected & you cannot download until & unless you achieve that ratio. But in case of piratebay or mininova you do not need to maintain any ratio..

If you are using public trackers such as TPB and so on you can add other public trackers to your torrents to find better seeders. This will not have a positive outcome guaranteed, but you will mostly have no negative effects. The other thing to note is that TPB trackers mostly have the highest numbers of people seeding/leeching at any given time. So they are very reliable but not the fastest.

If you want to know more, search for a torrent in TPB and try searching for the same torrent at isohunt.com. Isohunt will give you a list of other public trackers for the same torrent, which you can use if you want them to be used instead of the default TPB tracker.

Just go to options and select multiple simultaneous torrent downloads (it's probably set to 1)

Yes, not seeding will definitely slow your speeds.

And, get Azureus/Vuze, it's better and more configurable
