If you can take permission from your grandfather and he allow you to take telephone connection under his name then you can take many connection under his name But yes if you take more connection (Say 10 - 20) then there will be problem, not from the side of BSNL but from the side if Income Tax Department.

Why would your Grandfather allow DV29 to take connection in his name

    What is the problem ?
Your Grandfather does not allow you to apply for BB ?
Nowadays L/L connections are given for the asking.
Apply in your name for both L/L and BB
with proper documents and you should get it.

    2. If your Grandfather's averrage landline bill was Rs 500/PM
during past six months or one year.
you can get another rent free telephone .
    http://bsnl.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=372
then ask for BB in this new telephone number.

May be there is some misconception, that
phone cannot be used if BB connection is taken.

or difficulty in drawing parallel Telephone line to the computer room.

The broadband connection i use is not in my name The connection belongs to my uncle and so i applied BB in his name. I did all the formalities and he just put a signature in the form. Convince your grandfather for a BB connection. You can tell him it is like telephone these days. If he oppose, then you can apply another land line in your name. As long as your age is above 18, there is no restriction. You can choose a combo plan as you may not need the telephone connection for making calls.

    @ldv29
Recently, there is a circular, for an extra RENT
free telephone for those whose average
    Telephone amount exceeds rs 500/PM
    check it
    http://bsnl.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=372
Get one and then apply for BB in either Phone .

If your Grandfather's office telephone bill is
limited to Rs 2000/= PM , be prepared to
get permission to avail BB , or give undertaking
to pay amount in excess of Rs 2000/=PM

In that case, you can choose another name. May be yours or your mother's. It will be independent to the existing line. And since you already have a provision for telephone, you can choose a better plan.

And please specify your location. There are a lot of plans which exist only in a particular telecom circle.

There is no restriction of number of landlines for a particular address and/or name. Go ahead and apply for a landline + BB.

This restriction is applicable only if the second line is taken as the rent-free deposit-free connection linked to the first connection.

Ask for an independent connection with full deposit and rent. And u can get BB on that connection.

I think you may go for a new connection under any type of combo plans. thereby you can give only the BB bill and no phone rent is required.

For Annual Tariff plan payment a 20% discount already given.
So again 20% concession ( retired/pensioner/working govt employee scheme ) will not be given.

Select monthly payment and avail 20% discount in rent and excess data usage ( if not U/L plan)

you can migrate to any other plan from 1st of the month, ( say May ) by APPLYING for a change in earlier month. April )

Home750 U/L will do. probably your movie/song/video downloads you will use a scheduler /download manager etc to download during night hours.

If you are a heavy downloader (or would like to be), you can choose 500 plans. They have night unlimited and speed is much higher than UL plans. I use UL 750, the speed is 256 kbps. I feel it sufficient for my needs. Please feel free to ask questions.

BSNL has issued further clarifications in this regard

    Letter No. 64-03/08-Broadband Dated: 01/01/2009

it has been decided by competent authority that the discount at 20% in Broadband fixed monthly charges and usage charges shall be applicable to monthly and annual payment options (on usage only) of all Broadband plans opted by Government/PSU employees.

    Letter No: 64-03/08-Broadband Dated: 10/02/2009

In partial modification of the clarifications issued in the letter under reference, it has been decided by competent authority that the discount at 20% in Broadband fixed monthly charges and usage charges shall be applicable to monthly and annual payment options of all Broadband plans opted by Government/PSU employees.

So as per lastest clarifications, even Annual plans are eligible for 20% rebate on Rent & Usage

I do not have access to correspondence within BSNL set up
and go only by what is issued as News to the Public.

Anyway missed this post during the Contest period
    by @totallyfandu. .

For instance Festival concession was not announced by so many circles, and many users could not avail the facility.
Again someone posted the Internal circular tom ALL circles.

Chennai Telephones issued the clarification what i had posted.
