Default How to Disable LAN for night downloading utorrent?

When I put Vista in sleep mode and go to sleep, lots of MB is consumed between when I sleep to 2 am. I created a task to start utorrent at 2:30. From then it will start downloading. I want to prevent the MBs getting wasted. I setup static ip for utorrent to work. How do I disable my LAN connection so that no MB is wasted till 2 am, but it is re-enabled after that?

You can use a bandwidth controller for this purpose. It limits the traffic for a set period of time.

if your usage is high between time of sleep and 2 am.. then you need to check your pc for virus/spyware.. if pc is idle not more than 2-3mb should be consumed within that period of time..

    and @essbebe ...........

i guess imran Broadband Utility doesn't help in such a case because he is using windows Vista as his operating System as i had personally tried imrans broadband utlity for disabling my LAN but it didn't work in Vista ...........
It(VIsta) also has a buggy telnet .............. thus suffers from the
"Connection to the host lost" error as is evident from the various post in the forum posted on this issue .............
though i guess it would be useful for us all if someone could post the script which could be executed for enabling and disabling LAN via the task scheduler .......

Basic Concept Under this Software is:-
    Imrans Broadband Helper Utility
Start the Computer at say 09:00 PM, Schedule some big downloads, and go for ur sweet dreams (optionally turn off the Monitor - save power).
    What the S/W does is:-

    1. * It can disable your connection from 09:00-02:00, such that there will be ZERO usage during this period.
    2. * It can reboot your ADSL Modem at 02:01, such that a new connection start in free time.
    3. * It can try to raise speed or maintain connectivity during the entire night.
    4. * It can reboot your ADSL Modem at 07:55, such that a new connection start at that time.
    5. * It can ShutDown your PC at 08:00 AM, if you wish.

6.All the features are configurable, according to your needs.

7.last but most important, it can generate a very good log describing what it has done for you.
    Para two:
Confirm WHICH step given above in Imran's program did not work for you. and mention your modem model/make.

    Contradictory.
For Imran with (VISTA)works, for you it won't work.

    and Vista telnet is "buggy"!!!!!

My modem is Type- I ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII and plan is Home 500c.

these where the tutorials followed by me in order to activate Vista's Telnet :-

Here are some of the links to the post referring to the "connection to the host lost" error in windows Vista :-
(Please go through the whole thread)

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...am-8-am-3.html (Automatic rebooting of router at 2 AM and 8 AM)

    (1).it didn't disable my LAN .
(2).It wasn't 100% successful as Vista's Telnet is buggy!!! it shows "connection to the host lost" error . thus the imran's BB utility doen't work .
(3).couldn't test this feature as the 1st two didn't work .
(4).It wasn't 100% successful as Vista's Telnet is buggy!!! it shows "connection to the host lost" error . thus the imran's BB utility doen't work .
    (5).successfull in performing this task.
    (6).features are fully configurable.
(7).fully capable of generating log as well i would like to mention "It also has debugging feature" .......... this feature can be enabled by double clicking on the label "Hour" under Modem Tab.Now at the scheduled time you will be able to see (in the form of some messagebox's) a detailed conversation between imran's BB utility and your modem.

NOTE:- Please try yourself rebooting your very own Modem Via Vista to be 100% sure ..........

1.Better visit the author's web site and report your findings.

    2. VISTA telnet "buggy" Microsoft will be interested in your report.

3.As i do not have Vista unable to test your conclusions.

    4. In the other thread probably minor amendments to the Telnet script may be mentioned for different modem's.

5.You can report the telnet script ( Vista "buggy")you used for comments from others.
