Default Airtels offering 16Mbps,when will BSNL wakeup ??

    Hi,

Although there are many threads discussing the new or upcoming plans from BSNL,None so far has mentioned the new Airtels offer !

So here I thought we will discuss this and the possible impact of it !! Also most importantly how will BSNL counter this offer ???? will they ever be able comeup something similar ??

So share your thoughts, idea's and possible inside information :001_tt2: on this !!

    Regards.

I will be happy if BSNL gives me 512 kbps for my UL 750 plan

At least we do not have the FUP at the moment.

BSNL will come up with 16Mbps connection, just wait and watch. BSNL generally wait to know the impact of new plans provided by private operator & then implement it

Importantly: Let the elections pass, BSNL won't be announcing anything new atleast till 16th May. So wait and watch.

It is no use - 8 mbps or 16 mbps, till plans become affordable.

This is govt service...i think in the beginning when broadband was launched in india somewhere in 2004-2005 the speed was 256kbps for home 500 and 1GB usage limit @ 500Rs only now they upgraded the speed to 2mbps and 2.5GB usage @ 500Rs only....So they might upgrade to 4 or 8 or 16mbps @ 500Rs only and increase usage limit hopefully

please calculate the money spent on 750 unlimited, as if you are using atlest for 20 hours per day at 256Kbps.-- see the total down loadable MB/ GB per month , calculate the cost of power used and then you might appreciate that it would be cheaper to have Home 500 or any other plan without unlimited plan, as you would save power and that money can be spent on bandwidth charges.
at the end of needed download, one could switch off the PC and sleep comfortably.

I too use unlimited plan cause it's hassle free and there is also no tension of excess billing etc.
Also, with 20% discount it comes at 600.

    Hi,

Guys thanks for sharing the info and your thoughts on this !

Everyone is right in their own way !

But what I would like to say is,Although its understood that we have been given some decent options (Home 500,UL750/1350 etc) but we are still yet to see the real internet speeds that the west is enjoying !

Since years India is serving the west becoming technology hub ! but even then we talk as if they have a done big favor to Us by giving a stupid 256 Line to :001_tt2:!! I mean seriously any country which claims to be a tech super power or on the same lines should provide a service which will reflect the Name !!

If you see in most callcenters and tech firms the speed is always in excess of 8Mbps !! one on an average gets a speed of 2 to 4 Mb DL speed there ! Now how many systems are there in any given callcenter or a tech firm ?? 1000's right ? so if they are getting the speed of even 2 Mb per Pc it clearly shows that there's no shortage of bandwidth in the country from any ISP !

Its only that these companies want to milk as much as possible from normal users like Us ! that is why we are made to praise them for some sh***ty speed that they offer and console ourselves that its something great and we have to Kiss their A***s for the same !!

Its bout time that an average Indian wakes upto the reality and realises that, what is touted here as super speed or whatever (256Kbps) is in reality a mediocre speed and companies can provide Us with 10 times more speed without a hitch !

Things will only change if we change our outlook on this and see the big picture which Our Narrow minds blocking !!

    Regards.

I am really happy with the speed upto 1mbps. I really dont think the common internet user(present more in nos) needs any speed greater than 2mbps. 16mbps, i dont see any need atm. besides as said here, these speed shud be within affordable price.
