    Default speed down during night?

    hi friends,

i m from gujarat. i have bsnl broadband connection from last 2 years. i have smartAX MT882 modem. and Home 500 plan. i was happy with bsnl till last month but from this month during night hours i m really getting slow speeds. my speeds during night hours were nearly 240 KBps.

but now suddenly its dropped to 10-20 KBps from last 16 days or so. during night time only. i though initialy its just few days then it will be back normal. but today is almost 16 days with same speed

speeds are so rediculas that i cant download a 10 mb file without waiting half an hour some time. its really terrible experience. i thought its a problem in line so i check the whole line at my house but didnt found the problem.

so i decided to check when speed gets down. so one day i take a little test i checked at 12 am and speed was normal 230 KBps then i checked at 1 am still speed was around 220 KBps then i checked 1:45 am and speed was still around 225 KBps so i disconnect it and again checked at 2:15 AM and speed was 24 KBps and that night i checked the speed at around 7 AM it was 35 KBps and then again at 8:15 AM it was back to normal 220 KBps. and i was stuneed with that ... i was thinking bsnl is just playing some kind of silly game by saying night unlimited i called there support staff they said they are not gonna provide 2MBps speed constantly there speed is UPTO 2MBps not 2MBps but i try to talk with that person and tell him that my speed is not even 256 kbps that is considred broadband speed as per BSNL itself. and i m not getting near about that speed during nights. i can tell you that i feel like my dial up connection was better then this nights some time. then how the hack we can call broadband ? but that person was stunn with my argument and he said he doesnt know anything about this....

so anybody have any suggetions where i can complain about this ? any body knows any higher official email address then i want to lodge my complain against this.

i m open for any suggetions and here is my log if anybody can check is there any fault from my modem or line....

    Model Name : MT882 -- Firmware Version : V200R001C01B021SP03
    Operation Mode : G.DMT
    Output Power : 11.3 dB

    UPSTREAM
    SNR : 25 dB
    Attenuation : 16.0 dB

Its a strange problem... High number of users in your area downloading large files simultaneously can be a factor... But still you should get around 40 KBps atleast... And since your speed reduced drastically just 16 days back.. There must be something wrong... Lets wait for what others say tomorrow... We may get some clue!

Yes, I am having the same problem in Mysore ! I don't even get connected to the internet during the early mornings for downloads ! And if I do, it gets disconnected soon after, with messages like "Error 678", It is only after about 06:30 AM that I get a stable connection. I did complain to BSNL, but they said if I can get connected during other times that means the servers are busy and they can't help !

Check the back side of your bill. There will be phone no.s of Nodal officer and Appellate authority. They are the highest officials you can contact directly and your best possible chance. Please try and let us know.

I am having same problem. I am from ahmedabad. if you check your Gateway. it will be always same 59.95.192.1 during 2-8. I have sent the mail to nib_ahmedabad@sancharnet.in
During daytime 220+ KB. But 2-8. it is 50-70 KB.
I think only NIB engg. can resolve the problem as it is not exchange related.
I tried to download from INDIAN Servers and i get full 2 Mbps . speedtest.ttml.co.in
Hope they resolve it soon. I tried to contact NIB.( BHADRA EXCHANGE 6th floor). +91-079-5502805
but that guy didnt understand my problem and hung up my phone. So mailed them. lets see if i get any reply.

Many feel that they are doing this by purpose. Making calls will be more effective than mails. We know how we deal with them.

only reliance(via metro Ethernet) is giving promised speeds they also say upto kBps,mBps, but all the time u get cent per cent speeds acc to ur plan day or night there is no speed slowing down issue.

the reason lot of users r connected on the same ip gateway which u are assigned thats is 59.92.128.1 ,this is for old broadband users

so lots of unlimited user login to take advantage of the free period, hence the network is clogged and u face these slow speeds

your are not only the one, they r lots including me

    get used to it mate

    @meetdilip
i will contact them and if i can convience them my problem.
    @nisarg86
thank you for that email address i will surely contact them and i guess
they are the only one who can understand this problem
    @jatinder911
i have really bad experience with reliance.. there service sucks more then
bsnl. few months back at my office we have reliance and the way the connection
was working we have to change it to bsnl broadband in just 15 days. reliance
guy came in and say everyday they will fix speed problems and connecting
problem but they never came.. so i prefer bsnl then any other service provider

    @internet_guy
i know lot of users are there but as per bsnl broadband means minimum speed of
256 kbps atleast surfing speed not downoading and what i m getting is 10-30 kbps
and that really sucks there is no reason i should stand by and watch this situation
so i will fight if you let down anything in this country then that will be always
be like that, so better take step forward and change it

problem here is that even zonal officers or head officers doesnt know anything about broadband they will only say one thing " Bangalore Office "

just like our politicians say " foreign hand hai " They say " Bangalore Office"
they are mostly old age person and don't know much about broadband things so even if you try to convience them they will say problem upper say hai hum kya kar sakte hain

Then told them to refer your case to Bangalore also asked any contact number of Bangalore office.
Simply asked them what is the procedure to solve if anyone faced such problem from "Upper say" [Bangalore] ?

@hardik_d:u get bad experience from reliance, but bottom line is only reliance is giving speeds as promised 24X7 and their network is million times better than bsnl.

@hardik_d. I am also facing the same problem for last three days. Can you give me the email ID of the concerned persons in Bangalore BSNL office so that I can contact them. Local officials are unable to help me.

See Post No 15 Item No. 2.
@ hardik_d is talking about Reliance broadband.
    1
If you are on Home 750U/L ( each test will use about 15 to 20 MB )
check your speed at speedtest.net say Mumbai and Sydney servers.
    2
    Give the links here . as h t t p://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx
    or as annexure here.
    3.
    Post ipconfig /all data
    start RUN type cmd OK
    New window
    type ipconfig /all

    4. Mention modem model details.

Interestingly, my default gateway hasn't changed, nor have my snr and attenuation rates. Everything is as it was earlier. But I am not getting download speed beyond 30-40 KBps during free hours. Assuming that BSNL throttles the speed at night hours, there should be some change in the settings. There is no change whatsoever. Guys at local bsnl office told me that bsnl doesn't kill your speed and that it must be a fault with my phone line. I got it checked and phone line turned out to be perfect. So where is the fault? I think if bsnl is killing the speed on purpose during night hours, they must be doing it very smartly so that nobody comes to know about it technically. Whatever it is, it is pretty bad and it sucks....I am a research fellow and need to download a lot of data. If bsnl continues to play tricks like these on the customers, our work is f....d.

exact same problem as the topic starter... nothing works... still making do with the lame speed...

i was so happy with my speeds around 2 weeks back...

And i also feel that they're mainly throttling p2p traffic... i downloaded a 600MB iso using DAP, and got 178 KB/s average (still MUCH lower than my old speeds but higher than what i get on torrents). And it's not a problem with the my torrent files either. They are a bunch of REALLY healthy torrents, with massive seed : peer ratios.

Another thing is that in my router the speeds in the past used to be 8190/2046 kbps... (but i used to get 2mbps down only.) and the speed reflected in my router now is down to 2047/509, i have no clue why...

    Try TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net
    follow recommendations.
2.When downloading large files, delete all
other resident applications including auto updates.
    Antivirus/ firewall/antispy programs to remain.
    3. download use cleaner from filehippo.com
    regularly.

    4. Changing the mod from Adsl2+ to GDMT or ADSL2
may give different snr/attn data line speed etc.
Actual speed depends on ISP speed.
