    Default Linksys Router and BSNL

    Hello..

Maybe the router issue is discussed in other threads... I tried many and all in vain.. so please help me...

I am using BSNL Broadband.. with Dareglobal ADSL Modem, today I bought a Linksys home wireless router, thinking I can connect my laptop to it...

The connection settings Im using are

    IP address: 192.168.1.25
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    default G/W: 192.168.1.1

    DNS:
    218.248.240.208
    218.245.240.135

I tried to assign it to the router too. But it is not working.. I went to the admin window of the router in the browser and changed and checked almost all the parameters there.... but still no connection.. I am sittng with it for more than 6 hours,.

Somebody please help with the step by step procedure...

One more thing I dont know the Modem Username and PW for changing it to the PPPoE thing.. can I do it somehow in the static address thing itself ??

    Thanks in advance

    Biju

One update... now i found the password for accessing the Modem settings

See the forum "Broadband How to ....."
Dare global settings pages are similar to UT300R2u ( new model)
Linksys' wireless router model not given.
Select a thread mentioning your model or similar model
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...ys-wrt54g.html (Setup of UT-300R2 with Linksys WRT54G)

    Basic idea:
    Enable DHCP in the modem.
Assign a different Ip to Wifi router.
IN TCP/IP properties sect Obtain Ip address automatically.
    in both desktop and laptop.

Which Model is the ROuter? I presume it would be a WRT 54G
Its easy to configure it but you need to ensure your modem is not transmitting your username and password.
