Thread: Wireless modem

My username is reflective of my abilities here... so if my questions sound amusing.. please bear with me

I am about to get myself a BSNL boraband and want to setup a wireless modem for my laptop. I dont want to take modem from BSNL and would buy one of my own, here are my questions..

1. Is it necessary to have a a modem before setting up any ADSL wireless router? aint there wireless modem only or wireless router cum modem options available?

2. I dont need to connect more machines, it would just be my laptop, so if there are wireless modems available to serve the purpose ( as stated in q#1), can someone suggest which one to go for?

3. Any one who already have this setup, can please share his/her experience with BSNL. Am damn confused as on date between Airtel Vs. BSNL

Just go in the market and buy any of the ADSL2 modem+router of D-link/Netgear whichever may be feasable for you will do all the needfull for you but you have to spent a fortune for that!!(more than 3000/- rs)

If airtel is in ur area then go for it complete peace of mind round the clock customer service and also its installation is cheap as you get the modem for free no rent nothing just pay 1000 bucks and you will get a wifi modem cum router
