    Lightbulb Can we use a different router????

    can we install a different router other than the default router given by bsnl and expect the speed to increase as ppl say most of the problems exist in the router!!!!!!!!!

    i think the cheap quality of the router is the reason of the diminished speeds!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have Nokia Siemens C 2110 from BSNL. I get the suggested speed without any problem. Most speed reduction can be solved by port forwarding. We won't get anything more than the cap of our plan.

    U can use any ADSL router according to your choice. U r only changing the router, not ISP... Speed depends upon many factors.

    buddy noise level depends on wire dear not the router... router helps only to connect to the ISP thats all nothing else regarding line noise or speed...

    @slamdunk

    for a stable connection , if telephone line conditions are good any modem will do.
    Thumb of rule " SNR margin Higher the better. > min 10 db
    Attenuation as low as possible > say >35 db and above bad.
    Also by changing the Mod mode a stable connection can be possible.

    For improving speed try tcp/ip optimizer from
    speedguide.net.
    Test speed before and after applying the tweaks.

    test at speedtest.net will use about 10 to 15 MB for each test.
