Thread: changing the initial password

I have received the broadband connection a month ago , and as per the the instructions trying to change the password in change /forget password, but each time the reply comes is" password change failed try again later ". Can any body help me -how to go about this. since this may leads to some misutilisation. Anuj

Did you get a 14digit Usage portal ID & PW from the exchange ?

You have to use this to access usage portal at
http://bbservice.bsnl.in ( * edited 0935 25th april )

If you are on "Always ON" mode , you should enter the new password in your modem.

mention your model make details.

essbebe, I think its http://bbservice.bsnl.in/, the www part is not required.

Thanks for the correction. typed only bbservice.bsnl.in but added www. routinely , as thread starter is a newbie. http and www made a big difference here.

That is not correct. Browser automatically assumes and adds "www" to the URL.

No the browser adds the http:// part. I tried to open www.bbservice.bsnl.in .... and page could not be opened.

Try not to change your password. Because with your password you can only check usage details. And no harm can be done as your connection is linked to your telephone no. So no hacking is possible.

If you use an ALWAY ON connection, ie, you do not have a dialer and can connect to internet by simply switching ON your modem, then you need to enter the password in your modem every time you change the password. If you are a beginner, it may lead to some mistakes.


Another thing is bsnl email. The only use is that they will send you a mail when you exceeds your quota. If you want to use your BSNL email on a regular basis, you can change the password.

Hi friends, today suddenly at data.bsnl.in I am not able to check my usage. Though I enter my right portal id/pwd it says wrong user id or password entered. I cannot understand why this has happened. Datafox is showing the usage but I am not able to log with portal id and password. I have mentioned in other posts that from my connection I am not able to check usage at data.bsnl.in as well as bbservice.bsnl.in but able to do the same from Hathway at data.bsnl.in successfully. Now from the Hathway also same happens.

Anybody having such problem?

Earlier it happened to me, so i closed all browser windows and tried. It worked for more.
