Thread: How to configure broadband on Laptop?

Hi ALL,

I have broadband monthly 500/- plan which i had taken 3yrs back.Now i want to access internet using broadband on my Lenovo laptop which has win xp.When i connect network cable, it connects and always shows limited connectivity.becos of this i am unable to browse.

cud anybody pls suggest if any configurations are to be set in my laptop??i tried setting up bb connection,configuring DNS adress on my laptop but it doesn't work.

pls help.

Please mention your modem model and make. How do you connect to internet? Do you use a dialer or simply switch on the modem.

You can set it into PPPoE mode (ie, Always on, no need to use the dialer).

In laptop:
Start all programs/ accessories/ communications
Network set up wizard
follow instructions.
( or duplicate entries seen in desktop )
Check :
Network/LAN/properties/
TCP/IP
properties
select Obtain IP address automatically or
enter 192.168.1.10
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
Apply Save.

Presume you are familiar with dialer and always on mode settings.
