Default Slow broadband speed for Home 3300 plan

    Hello Everyone,

I have this BSNL's Home 3300 (2 Mbps) plan in Chandigarh. Since the start of service, the speed that I have been getting is not more than 256 Kbps. For the longest time, I am struggling with BSNL's officials regarding this problem and there has been no action from their side since 3 months now. In the first place, they keep saying that our speed is "Upto 2 Mbps" and not "2 Mbps" but of course, their plan says "2 Mbps". I am not saying that I should get 2 Mbps since speed is shared, but at lease close to that would be good, right?

Does anyone else ever had any such problem? Do you think there may be a modem setting which I have to change to make it work? Any other ideas what I can do?? I am really frustrated and don't know whom to approach now (the last person I approached is a DGM in BSNL Chandigarh).

    Thanks in advance.

How did you calculate the speed. Is it on torrents or a particular website. Try speedtest.net and please post the result.

Try a download from Microsoft and check the speed.

Mention your Modem - Model and make

By the time we work this out, please lodge a complaint to Nodal officer and Appellate authority. Address and phone no. on the backside of your bill. Talk to them in person and mention that what you need is not 2 Mbps constant but a decent speed for the amount you pay.

Consider using 500, 500 C or 500 C+. They are widely used and give you upto 2 Mbps.

The speed you get is definitely low.

    look buddy check the following:

    1. Your phone line is in good condition (meaning no noise)
    2. Second install the following antivirus and check your PC with the scan
    nsanedown.com/?request=6815754
on the page download the 32 bit version and also the box, mara fix.
install all those and check your pc for viruses.

most of the its malware slowing down
next goto - start menu>run>type services.msc> then disable automatic updates
