Unhappy what is my e-mail ID?

    Hi guys,

I know it sounds bit silly asking this question but I live in london since last 12 years. My parents are back in india and they are using BSNL broadband. I have recently sent them vonage and wanted to check data usage. Even I wanna see e-mails as well.I know the user name and password to login for broadband connection. I dont know if that is same as e-mail ID or somthing else? and i infact dont know how to access that e-mails. In short no clue at all. Can anyone pls help? and I dont know how to get portal ID?

    Cheers

Try your surname in the email section of data.bsnl.in
For this you need to log in using a portal id and password. Password is usually " password ". Portal id is the one which you use for checking the usage details in BSNL portal.

The best thing to do is a call to local BSNL exchange tomorrow morning.

    EMAIL
If Broadband taken recently and ID is abcd @ bsnl.in and PW
same is used for BSNL webmail .
But confusing web pages. you can anyway try.
    http://dataone.in/
    http://mail.bsnl.in/

Better idea is to setup in OE or Outlook or any other email client.
Best idea is to register in Yahoo mail.
    data usage
For checking usage if as above, you should get 14 digit Portal ID and Password as password from the Exchange. Ask your relatives to get it and send it to you.

If it is an old connection , abcd @ dataone.in ,
you cannot access the usage portal unless connected with BSNL ISP.

    VONAGE USAGE
Unable to check up usage independent of BSNL usage portal, with external bandwidth meters.

Thanks essbebe. I taken BSNL broadband recently, just few months back and I tried mail.bsnl.in. Thats workig. So thanks again for that.

Also if I use [B]BSNL - Broadband account manager from here in London, will I be able to see data usage for vonage? Coz frankly speaking, my parents dont know anything about all this. All they can do is just google the things they want.

Please refer to your other thread which I have now replied to:

Here is the link to the Datafox add-on: Datafox

    2) You can use the just launched Web Registration for Broadband Usage Alert facility by BSNL: Web Registration for Usage Alerts
It is said to give you both E-mail updates and Mobiles updates (SMS).

You can also use any of the Bandwidth monitoring tools also to update yourself with your usage. But, it may be a little or more different from what Dataone records. But, it can give you a fair idea as to how much you might have used.
ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter is a good bandwidth monitoring tool. You can download it here: ShaPlus
And I believe that if your parents can search Google, then they can of-course use any or all of the above I have mentioned there.

Default Checking BSNL usage portal for @ bsnl.in other ISP's

Also if I use [b]BSNL - Broadband account manager from here in London, will I be able to see data usage for vonage
    YES.
IN India I use Airtel and I can check for New BB users ( test ID available to me ) with IP 117.xx.xx.xx and ID abcd @ bsnl.in

DataFox/Firefox can work for BSNL - Broadband Account Management
Could be a problem for the other portal ( Calender incorporated also Consumer number to be entered ) not tried.

Better take Home 500 plan. 2.5 GB day and free
    Nu unlimited

    @dhaneshv
(1)... Datafox OK. see my post here.
(2)..... good link given .. thanks.
(3)....... As I mentioned earlier Vonage usage is not
................metered by Shaplus/Tautology B/W meters etc.
( direct measurements independent of BSNL usage portal)
    Tried for my connection.

    4.......................... About 20MB was mentioned
for 1 hour Vonage usage. Not confirmed.
Because of time difference my Vonage
used mostly during NU free time . ( IST time)
    will test and update later.

    Dhaneshv----essbebe....

Thanks a lot for giving me useful advice..
I have just registered for BSNL: Web Registration for Usage Alerts and it says about 24 hour before that goes live. So hopefully will be able to see that tomorrow.

It would be a great help if you can tell me vonage usage per hour essbebe. I had so many different opinions. My usage is about 2000 minutes a month roughly. But I am sure it not gonna exceed 2400minutes. And if that can be done within 1 GB bandwidth ...thats fantastic.

I am also waiting for my dad to give me portal ID for BSNL Broadband Account Manager. Just wanted to keep an eye for first couple of months to make sure I am not exceeding the limits.

Thanks again and waiting to hear from you soon.

    @macthehero
if you can tell me vonage usage per hour essbebe.
Requirement : approx 1/1/2 hours per day.

Old info but likely to be same.
No other usage of Internet. Auto updates not included.
    http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic9523.html
    VONAGE 1 GB
Normal (30k Codec) = 55.5 Hours per month
Medium (50k Codec) = 27.5 Hours per month
High (90k Codec) = 22 Hours per month

Normal (30k Codec) = 111 Minutes every day
Medium (50k Codec) = 55 Minutes every day
High (90k Codec) = 44 Minutes every day
Will actually note down and update later.
    call to & from U.S .

Better to change to Home 500 or
    Home 750 unlimited !
    256Kbps speed should be OK.
