Can not Ping default gateway

    Default Can not Ping default gateway

    Hi,
    For past 1 week i had frequent disconnection and was able to ping to my default gateway rarely..

    but yesterday I was not able to ping to my default gateway (192.168.1.1)

    my Ipconfig details:
    IP Address: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    DNS: (don't remember)

    my modem model is: MT882
    plz.. help..? can my OS be corrupted..??

    if modem is working, and you can access internet,

    InIE type 192.168.1.1 admin admin
    can you access the modem pages ?

    see under misc/ tools/ and try here.

    Ping Test is used to send 'Ping' packets to test if a computer is on the internet.
    Host Name or IP address
    Ping Result

    I tried that too.. I get cannot find the page in my browser.

    I tested the modem in my office.. I was able to ping to 192.168.1.1 and I can able to open 192.168.1.1 admin page.

    I am not able to reach the admin page at my home..?

    (1)Did not confirm able to surf internet or not .
    Clear all temp files /cache etc.
    IF NOT
    Start/ Network/ LAN /properties
    TCP/IP page.
    On top ethernet card details seen .
    Configure : enabled. ?
    do fault finding .
    ELSE
    Ignore above.

    I am not able to surf the net..
    I tried default Options to... in Ipconfig i get all the details correctly..
    like:
    IPAddress: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.1.1

    But i am not able to ping to 192.168.1.1 or reach the admin page using it in browser.

    I tested the modem in my office.. I was able to ping to 192.168.1.1 and I can able to open 192.168.1.1 admin page.
    I am not able to surf the net.
    Start NETWork/LAN properties
    TCP/IP page.
    Select tcp/ip
    properties
    IN DNS enter 208.67.220.220
    and 208.67.222.222
    apply save.

    confirm you use "dialer" to connect .
    or "Always On" mode.
    Your UserID and PW entered in the modem.

    I use always On mode...
    leave the Internet part... I am not able to get into the modem admin page using the default gateway?

    guys.. any details on how to solve my problem?... also I forgot to mention I was using VOIP service... I canceled the VOIP and I started getting these problems...

    plz.. can anyone shed some light on this issue..??

    @karthikvj.
    Please mention your set up with the VOIP unit.
    Have you removed the VOIP unit ? ( what is the model/make ?).

    You can try a RESET of the modem AX MT882 and try again.
    (even though you had mentioned earlier it worked ok in your office )

    I have removed the VOIP now.. I don't remember the VOIP model name.. I will let u know.... I have tried reseting the model and all... still no ping response from the modem...

    also.. I tried disconnecting the ADSL line from modem.. I connected only the modem to my PC ethernet.. I still was not able to ping to the modem default gateway...

    (a)Now are you connected to Internet with a different modem with the same computer/desktop ?

    no I was using another system that has internet access...

    I am at home now... I logged into WinXP is safe Mode with Network enabled.. I am able to ping to default gateway and Internet is working too... What can be the normal.. its not working in normal mode..?? malware or virus..??

    Try system restore. Restore to a previous point in which you had no problems.

    guys...
    yesterday the internet was working fine in windows safe mode and also in ubuntu live CD... after like 2 hours the problem started again... plz help..!!!!!!!!!!!
