    Default Networking Problems with SmartAx MT841

    I am currently using BSNL provided SmartAX MT841 router.
    I have connected to it a LINKSYS (SD 208) 8-Port 10/100 Switch for creating a home network.
    I configured the BSNL router following the instructions given on calcuttatelephones

    I never switch off the BSNL router and LINKSYS switch.

    I am facing the following problems:
    1) When I connect the laptop directly to the SmartAX MT841 router, I have no problem and I can access the internet with ease.

    2) When I try to browse the internet through the LINKSYS switch the following happens:

    a) The laptop does not get connected to internet if I try to browse after hybernation and thus I have to reboot the LINKSYS switch.

    b) Once I have worked for some time (say half an hour or so) the switch requires another reboot for Net browsing.

    c) I tried changing the switch and installed new COMPEX PS2208B switch but the problem remains.

    Pl suggest the way out.

    Thanks!

    You may have to use a different modem/make..
    I don't have the problem with Beetel 110BX1

    Para two;
    The PS2208B-SS can operate out of the box with no further configuration needed. Its in-built auto-negotiation feature allows 10/100Mbps auto-sensing ports to adjust the speed to the workstations or servers. Auto MDI/MDI-X is featured in every port which allows any type of Category 5 Ethernet cable to be used.
