Default Do I need to configure my wifi router (ITI)??

Dear members,

I recently took BSNL wifi connection (am not a computer savy and that BSNL technician just gave router and ran away without doing any connection).

Initially when I used to connect to wifi network than I was getting this error, limited or no connectivity. But I could still use the net. Later on setting the IP nos as per one of the posts here, I was able to connect to the wifi network (my router) without getting that error.

Now I see that some of the posts here mention configuring the router, so was curious to know whether I need to do something like that?! as anyhow my internet is working ..

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
Nirav

Also, what is port forwarding!?

Check your settings with this web site.
Chennai Telephones- Changing password in DataOne Pre-configured modem

Are you using the computer in wifi mode ?

Port forwarding :
Please see this web site: portforwarding.com
If you are using a "Dialer" not needed.
( You enter UserID and PW in a dialer window and connect.)
Not needed unless you want to download from torrent sites, movies, music etc.
What is your surfing needs ?
What is your tariff plan ?

Port forwarding is opening a port in your computer that other can connect to your computer. While we use torrents, it is quite essential for good speeds. Apart from port forwarding choosing torrents with good share ratio (ie, no seeds to leechers ) is also important.
