Unhappy Huge bills after plan change..

I have been using BSNL broadband since last 2 years with a plan of 250..Changed the plan to 750+ in march..which was shown to be effective in BSNL portal from 11/03/2009..but unaware of the fact that BSNL uses details only from its database..i got a bill of 12000 approx for the usage ...its totally a wrong billing by BSNL...went to the local exchange..they said that there database still carries the 250 plan and though there was a request to change it...I dont get this point as How is this possible..The portal showing a change in plan but no change in database..Ran there for 3 days..ultimately they say that they have upgraded the plan but I will have to pay the amount..I talked to the accounts officer, the PRO,the GM but all gave me the same answer.I really feel helpless ..

paying a amount of 12000Rs is not really done..Money does not grow on trees..also why should i pay for a bill which is totally wrong..plz suggest where should i go for the complain.......

What happened to you is really unfortunate. Don't pay the bill. It is really huge. On the backside of your bill, you will find the phone no and address of Nodal officer and Appellate authority. A registered complaint with receipt will be useful during later claims. Otherwise they will deny that you ever talked to you.

Portals can lie. Many of us has experienced ourselves. If your plan does not change in the first week, they will not accommodate in the current month.

After the complaint, talk to them in person. Once you give the complaint, they are bound to give a written reply, which can be used as a proof for later stage. If you do not pay, they will disconnect your connection along with land line. As mobile is popular is these days, that won't affect you much. You can opt for a Broadband connection from any other ISP.

All this depend on your negotiation skill and follow ups with Nodal officer and Appellate authority. If you are not good at it, ask a friend to help while you talk to them. Present your problem clearly stating valid points. Once you do not pay the bill, they will send you a legal document after one year or so. So if you have the receipt and reply in written from these authorities, you can justify your side.

A pity you didn't saw this link before

What the members are advising is "contest" the bill.

If you have written proofs, i.e., application change request, date on which it was submitted, snapshots of portal, etc., then you have a case.

But I must say one thing. When you changed from Home 250 to UL750, the speed drops from 2 mbps to 256 kbps. Did yuu notice such a speed drop?

Save the web page that shows the Plan change. Do you have any proof or receipt on Plan change application and the date applied. I am afraid you may not have as they are written in plain paper. If you have it, you have the case in your favour.

i just say, have a print of the webpage and show to the SD Engineer, and prove him, BSNL is wrong, if also BSNL accepts their mistake u have to pay 12k which will be further reduced from u r BSNL bills.

yes, i do have all written proofs:
Customer care itself gave me a advice note stating the date of change of plan as 10/03/2009,the receiving of application sighned and the portal snapshots.

Its true that 750 plan has very less speed, yet using an alternate DNS server address helped me a lot...

Changing DNS does not dramatically increase speed. DNS helps in address (URL) resolution only. A faster DNS will render the URL to IP quicker and hence the page may load faster.

Note the word - may. This is not guaranteed because even though the site IP may be found quickly, the web server may itself be loaded with requests or slow in itself.

And DNS make no difference in file download speed - either direct download or via torrent.

Don't give the original. Attach a photocopy of the documents and lodge a complaint. Keep a copy of the complaint.

    I am UL 750.
