hey there ,i have bsnl broadband home unlimited plan of rs.750 since three years,i got a huawei modem mt880 ,it worked fine earlier but it is giving one problem ,even though the adsl link is stable ,it connects after 5-10 mins.......


its a very strange problem . i called the bsnl employee to repair it but even he was not able to solve the problem...
please somebody help mee.



also i wanted to buy a wifi modem ..can somebody tell me which is the best modem which i can use for bsnl

Check up settings.
are you using Dialer Mode "bridged'
or PPP/PPPoE "always on " Mode.

Probably electrolytic condensers have dried up in the
power adapter ( if out put is 12 V DC )or in the modem.

If you get this working Netgear WGR614V6 can be considered.
Fault free for past one year for me. .

are you connected via USB? are you able to access 192.168.1.1 as soon as ADSl link is stable?

i am currently using the bridged mode ........ i tried to configure the pppoe mode but was unsuccessfull..

it is not connected through usb .it is connected through ethernet cable..

can somebody tell me how to configure the ppoe method ??

If your MT880 is not working properly , get from BSNL
wifi router with adsl modem. cost only Rs 1600/=
or on rent for two or three months for testing.

which wifi modem should i buy for my bsnl connection...as i want to use my laptop...

can you please explain in brief..

you have given data from the Summary page of your modem here. in POST 8.
One of the entries you have typed as

snr 0

which is not possible.

Also the Attenuation data , below SNR is also required.




need the the correct figures.

i simply upgraded huawaei mt880 firmware and now it works fine..............

but i am still not able to configure it to ppoe method can somebody explain me how do to that in brief !!!!!!!

Congrats.
I was hesitating to recommend a FW upgrade,
as sometimes due to various reasons
the modem becomes useless.

Now if you are satisfied with the working of the modem, observe for two or three days.
Check SNR/Attn figures and post only these figures
along with Mod selected adsl2 +, GMT etc.

Save present settings to C:/ My Documents/MT880 Bridged

Para two :
It will be better to have a "DIALup" connection
if you are interested in NU downloads and torrents.

Anyway procedure to make it "Always On"
refer the link .

Select WAN 0_35 edit
Uncheck "Bridged"
Select PPP and PPPoE
Enter UerId without @ bsl.in
Password
Always On
Idle time 0
SAVE reboot

wait for two minutes.
When Summary page comes
see Green button is seen. against 0_35 PPPoE.
Check In Diagnostics page status.

this upgrading firmware has been a really mysterious thing.. sometimes it magically fixes everything and sometimes it just completely screws up your modem . I guess we need to start creating a record as to which firmware upgrades are successful and which arent, so people in doubt could refer to it.. here's one
