Thread: User Name and Password required

Hi All,

Im new to the forum as well as, i have recently given BSNL broad band connection. At the time of connection they gave, i was not there, so not able to get user id and password.

So , is there any way to get USER ID and PASSword?. I'm from bangalore, using 500C plan.

One more help, i got first bill for Rs.3000, stating that i have downloaded 4.5GB, but im sure , i dnt do too much downloading? I have downloaded free tool of 2.5GB size only at night time by 2.30pm-7.30pm, so have to proceed now, i have to pay the full bill amout or anyother suggestions?

To get your ID and password, please talk to your local exchange. They will have it in their records.

I think you didn't switch off the modem after 2.00 am and before 8.00 am. If not, you will not be able to use the free time and will be charged for the usage. Most of us use a software to automatically do this. Here is the link with details

There are 4 sources to check your usage. 2 BSNL portals, 1 BSNL software, 1 Independent software.

1. BSNL - Broadband Account Management , values in KB.

2. BSNL Portal, values in MB, user friendly.

3. Both these sites can be down at times. BSNL sites do not update on real time basis. Today's usage is shown after 2 days. So most of us use a Bandwidth meter. Click here to download.

If you are connected to Internet in "Always On" mode
your userID will appear in the WAN page of your modem.
password will appear as ****** but can be retrieved..

Anyway contact Exchange for both.

Also ask for a 14digit Portal ID and
password as password
to check your usage on line at BSNL web sites.
bbservice.bsnl.in

Take a print out of the usage details for billed April 2009 .
Needed to get refund. & to approach nodal etc.


Give details of your modem/router.

If you can connect to internet by simply switching on your modem (ie, no dialler required), then even if you keep the modem on and shutdown the computer, you will be charged. Because you connection is ON as long as the modem is in the ON position.

Regarding you bill, you can talk to the Nodal officer or Appellate authority. Address and phone no on the backside of your bill. Talk to them and request to remove the extra amount charged. You can also send a written complaint with receipt.

Till date i have not recieved bill, call'd and ask'd for bill and got to know the bill amount. Have to request for duplicate bill, its another issue, i can solve.

I Dnt know details abt my modem, its U2**** , let u know by tomor.

Wthr changing the plan to unlimited il have big impact on speed? main purpose of surfing is for doing video conference with my bro who is in abroad.

From old post, i came to know that consumer id is the User-id and password is password, ist right? If i need to change the internet setting and to chk the status of downloading ? can i try with above?

not exactly.. your consumer id is not your portal id.. just call up your customer care no 1800 424 1600 .. and give them your tel no, and your userid ( the one present in the modem as told by essbebe ) and they SHOULD give you your portal id.. atleast thats how i got mine.

what is the date u got u r bb connection???
