according to my broadband plan the download speed around 256kbps to 2Mbps..
but when i download some files it hardly reaches around 30kBps..
i contacted custom care but of no use.. same with the telephone exchange near by..
can you tell the exact reason behind..
is there anything associated with DNS servers..

1.Check your speed at speedtest.net Mumbai
    and say Sydney servers.
    2
Give link here as hxxp:// or post details here.

    3.
Post Statistics ADSL page of your modem/router.
or details of SNR Attn Line speed and Mod selected.
    Mention modem model/make.
    4.
You may try OPENDNs 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

    5. You can try TCP/Ip optimizer from
speedguide.net. Check speed at same server,
before and after tweaking settings, as
    recommended by the program.

    6. Use Free Download manager or IDM. ( trial )
the download speed will show varying speeds.

At times, it depends on the website from which you download. Download a file from Microsoft and check the speed. For torrents, try port forwarding

Please mention if you use a download manager. You can try Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) if you wish. Click here to download.

Please post the speed test result as mentioned above.

For Open DNS, Please use this screen shot

Please try a download from Microsoft and update the speed here.

Rapidshare provides limited speed to free users. Try a similar site like megaupload and check.

Are you mentioning torrent speeds. If so try port forwarding.

    http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...ing-guide.html

Try changing to Open DNS (Screen shot given above)

Speedtest.net, post the screen shot of the result from 2 different server.

Try a download from Microsoft and update.

Please mention your modem - model and make

    Default microsoft

ya, i checked with microsoft, same as rapid share, the speed hardly reaches 50kBps..
as i've heard, the microsoft server is strong enough so that my download would reach 100+ or even more..
is there anything related to filtering since i checked it and it showed it has blocked some programs or the sites are blocked...
make a clear picture for me.. thanx.unk:

    @shashibond
    1.Check speed again.

    2.Try TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net.
Use default values and recheck speed

    3.
4.the speed from the mumbai server is .16Mbps for download and .19Mbps for upload.. for sydney servers still worse..

To achieve maximum speed on torrents, you need port forwarding

    http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...ing-guide.html

Also select torrents with enough seeds. If you are concerned about regular downloads, Rapidshare and Megaupload gives slower speeds to free users. Try a download from Microsoft and check your speed. Also try speedtest.net. Please update here.

Proper use of download managers like DAP or IDM can give good speeds.

DAP = Download Accelerator Plus (Free)
IDM = Internet Download Manager (Paid)

Confirm from the portal that your plan is indeed changed.

BSNL plan change is a bit tricky with hidden charges.
