No, no download is restricted below your bandwidth. let it be direct server or torrent you should get the maximum speed of your bandwidth, but there are many factors affecting the download speed like, quality of the line BSNL provides, distance from the exchange etc..

Now about the torrent speed, there also many factors depends like the number of seeders and the speed at which they are seeding, etc.. The speed what you are getting is good speed and average also, almost all will get the same speed ie around 200 kBps so there is nothing to worry about, still if you want to optimize it go through this

When you say "230 kbps" you mean "230 kilobytes/sec", I mean in the torrent program it show the figure "230". Right?. If thats right then you are getting the max speed on your line there is no need to port forward like the guy above is telling. Yes I helps but will not in your case as you connection is already pumped to its max.

Please go through my post again, i never told him to port forward again or do any changes, i already told him that the speed he is getting is optimal & no need to worry about it.

That guide is for the things he should know about the torrents, please download the zip file there and read it once and see what information is there in that, later decide it.

    Let us make this simple,

1 Kbps is not equal to 1 KBps.

    ---

Kbps = Kilo bits per second

KBps = Kilo Bytes per second

    ---

    1 KBps = 8 Kbps

    256 kbps = 32 KBps

    512 Kbps = 64 KBps

    230 KBps = 230 x 8 = 1840 kbps = 1840/1024 = 1.8 Mbps
