Post your SNR ratio and Attenuation stats,
goto Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and tet your speed there and post the results here, with 2 servers one is mumbai & another in Sydney

Thwn will try to solve your problem.

I hope you have done port forwarding. Also check your firewall settings.
To check, disable the firewall and check the speed.

It is explained in the simplest possible way by just4kix. Please take a look at the link in post no. 4.

You may also simply go to portforward.com, select your modem from the list and blindly follow the procedure. For regular downloads, always use a download manager. I remember suggesting a few. Which one did you chose ? Please let us know the download speed with the download manager.

To check your speed, try speedtest.net or a download from Microsoft.

    1) Torrent speeds also depend on the upload speed of he seeds you have connected to. If they have low upload speeds, you will experience low download speed.
And, is the speed the same after the download has passed 15-20 minutes?

    2) The seeders-leechers list might not have been correctly updated. Many might have stopped seeding, and many might have started downloading it.
    From your first post:
and also i downloaded a torrent with 74 seeders and 10 leechers but i only get 155KBps.......
    3) Make sure that you are not affected by any virus/trojan. Scan your system if you doubt it (even a bit).

    For what?

If you are talking about Port forwarding, you can go to Portforward.com and browse to their tutorial for port forwarding your modem and it will help you with the utorrent settings.

    Default change 500c to 500home

well Bsnl is too smart and shrewd if they provide 500c as in Ur case then the speed is slow because it is a combo plan and U r getting two lucrative things simultaneously and as in politics U don't get laabh ka padd similarly how can U expect speed from them but here is a solution If Ur plan is three months old then U can change Ur plan to Home 500 plan and U certainly get satisfactory speed plus more than 1.5 gb as well!
I've a question too what's this Rep power is it necessary then be benign to me!unk:

Don't configure just choose default settings and rest assure U'll get good speed coz in most of the time default settings are more than better !unk:

I am using BSNL Home 500C (most/many of the users here are using the same), and I get maximum speeds of about 210-240 kBps for healthy torrents.

120-140 kbps speed is low, seeing the seeders i can understand. I hope you will be getting better speed in direct downloads

woooo that means there is some problem with your configuration because in direct downloads you should be getting atleast ~200 kbps.

Have you done the basic steps ?

    1) Do you experience frequent disconnections?

    2) If not, try downloading again some file (size about 10-20 MB recommended) from Microsoft. Then check your average download speed again.

    3) It might be caused also due to network congestion.

Check in utorrent that your ports are open. If yes, you will see a green tick mark at the bottom part of the utorrent window. Otherswise it will be an orange triangle or red circle.

Guys is there any decrease in speed if there are two files downloading at the same time........

and which port do u all use????????
i use 6881......is there any prblem with this port?????

If you are downloading two files then there will be delay in the completion of the file but speed of your bandwidth will be same.

Ex : if your band width is 256 kbps, download 1 file of 2560 kb and will complete in 10 sec,

if you are downloading 2 files of 2560 kb then it will take 20 sec to complete both file.

This is the difference in multiple file downloading
