i am using type 2 modem. i dont have any problems with this. can any one give me an answer what is the difference between type 2 & 4 Modem![]()
Type 4 modem has 4 ethernet ports, Type 2 has only 2.
Please dont salute someone senior of this forum with words like Sir
Better call My Master
-FBro..
Earlier there were Type 2 and Type 4 modems. At that time Type 2 had only 2 ethernet ports and Type 4 has 4 ports. Now BSNL has changed this classification and now there is only Type 1 and Type 2 modem. And type 2 modems have 4 ports.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
i think u r right. In application form they just give two options Type 1 & 2.
In bsnl web they r showing as type 1,2,3&4. type 1&3 r normal modems then type 3&4 r wify modems that what the doubt was come. again one more doubt type 3 modem have 3 ports without wify right !!??

Check the modem number you had given.

Plus taxes is same. May be available from BSNL.
WA3002-G4 NEXT. SAME PRICE.
Usually Beetel Modem/routers are not sold by Airtel.
They take a Non refundable Fixed Deposit
and no monthly rental is charged. No idea whether
now Beetel modems are available in Open market now.

Perhaps Type has a added facility while wireless is common.
It has USB socket that would be helpful. If the customer needs multiple wired PCs across the Modem, only then One need to select Type4. for other needs and wireless, perhaps Type2 would suffice.
If i am not wrong then BSNL now dont provide Type III and Type IV modems.
They now provide:
Type I: which has 1 USB and 1 Ethernet (LAN)
Type II: which has 4 Ethernet + 1 Wi-Fi
