Type I: which has 1 USB and 1 Ethernet (LAN)

    Type II: which has 4 Ethernet + 1 Wi-Fi

    Modems Provided By BSNL

    Nokia siemens C2110 (1 LAN & 1 USB)(*Listed as Type A

    UTStarcom:

    UT-3002 (1 LAN)
    UT-300R (1 LAN)
    UT-300R2 (1 LAN)
    UT-300R2U (1 LAN & 1 USB)

    WA3002-G1 (1 LAN & WiFi)

    WA3002G4 (4 LAN & WiFi)
    ( * will be Type B)

    Sterlite SmartAX MT882 (1 LAN & 1 USB)

    Siemens SL2141 (4 LAN & WiFi) ( * listed as TYPE B

    Quidway WA1003A (1 LAN & USB, WiFi)
    (*
Also: Sem ITI DNA A211-I same as WA 3002-g4 type B
earlier ZTE ZXDSL 531B.................................. type B)

Getting drivers for USB port for different OS has become problematic.
    example OS Windows 7
Recent trend seems to be to discontinue models with USB port.
Example beetel 220BX1 to 110BX1 ( identical But No USB port )
    Also data transfer
in old USB limited to 10 Mbps to 12 Mbps. ( compare LAN 100Mbps)
Latest USB.2.0 can handle higher transfer rate. ( >400Mbps????)
old ADSL modems may not work with latest systems with USB 2.0
    How fast is USB 2.0?
USB 2.0 has a raw data rate at 480Mbps, and it is rated 40 times faster than its predecessor interface, USB 1.1, which tops at 12Mbps. Originally, USB 2.0 was intended to go only as fast as 240Mbps, but in October 1999, USB 2.0 Promoter Group pumped up the speed to 480Mbps.

Ok.Bsnl now provides only two types of modems. One for ethernet wired conn and the other for Wi-Fi with provision for 4 ethernet connections too.I have the type II modem.it works very nicely with my laptop in Wi-fi mode.Sometimnes i connect with RJ45 cable also.Is any body hvg problem with this type modem.?what is the lacuna in BSNL reducing the type of modems to 2 only?Of course both are made in India by ITI.Some 3 yrs ago BSNL were giving Huawei modems. it was not as good as the present DNA-A211-1.

    hi

i took the bsnl BB conection this month

type 1-Rs:-(1000+64):this modem has only 1 ethernet port (1 LAN)only
    type2-Rs:-(1600+64):it has 1 ethernet and wi-fi
    type3-Rs:-(1000+64):4 ethernet ports(4 LAN)
    type4-Rs:-(1600+64):4 ethernet ports(4 LAN) and wi-fi

wi-fi is a wireless facility for using to connect to laptop

if u hav a desktop go for "type2" modem

even if u want to change the modem to "type4" after buying "type2"

u hav to submit them the "type2" modem and pay 600 and get "type4"

go for the plan home 500 coz at night time u get a speed of max 2mbps u can download 800MB in one houer so can download 6 movies per day during night time(currently i'm using this plan) but through out the month in day time u have limited download/upload of 2.5 GB i.e., around 75 MB per day so never download/ upload during day time and there is free download/upload from 2.AM to 8.AM
"""""""""""i know a method to connect the broad connection automatically at 2.AM"""""""""
    once visit www-bsnl-co-in >services>broadband>tarrif>

    view the plans carefully

u will be charged 10.20 % service tax apart from the broadband and telephone bill

i sat less than 2KM from the exchange and I use WA3002G4 presently and in
    in PPPOE mode
I have no issues with it. prior to this I had 300R2U which also worked well.
Nothing to say against MT841 of Huwawie as it worked excellently before.

I understand the sentiment but not all the Modems are failing in a specific make or model number. Perhaps, you fell into the unfortunate sufferer group.
