Default When can we expect 8 Mbps?

Now that elections happened, can't we expect 8Mbps soon? At least starting at 750? With a 5GB limit?

Now since the elections are over, expect something. But small.

Expect a maximum of 100 - 200 rupees change or a lift in speed by 256 Kbps. Anything more is only suitable when we sleep. It is called a dream.

The max i think is (In UL section )750 reduced to 500, or 900 for 512 kbps
500,500c,500C+ = night time increase from 2-8 AM to 12 to 8 AM
250 = Usage limit increased by 1 more GB

I don't think BSNL would be any quicker than a snail in implementing 8Mbps speeds ...........

This is exactly what my thoughts are too, going by previous history.

UL750/+: Price reduced to Rs. 500. Speed will probably remain same.
UL1350/+: Price reduced to Rs. 1000. Speed will probably remain same.
Home 500/Combo: May not change at all.

I expect that download limit of all those new small Home plans (125, 250, etc.) will be increased by .5 GB each.

Best not to expect anything so that if something does happen, it will be a pleasant surprise.

    Well said...

The day we get speeds like these, I'll achieve eternal happiness.

    Default BSNL Speeds

To expect much from BSNL- is expecting too much!!- BSNL is a SNAIL both in planning- execution as well as customer service - there is just too much Babudom in it,s hierarchy most of these babus are just living in 1980,s when you waited years for a BSNL land line- therefore anything from this organisation is manna from heaven. Best will be to just junk this dinosaur -or alternately to have so much competition for this entity( In Broaband Section )-so that it is made to wake up from its slumber(like in cellular operations )- just imagine it is a entity of Tens of Billion Dollars & no Body is interested in Customer service or in promoting the Sales of this Giant Nigam.

But what about private players. I have seen many boasting private players. But they are only a better BSNL. Given the infrastructure and resource they have, they can give great plans at really good rates. With the population of India, they can give really affordable rate. As they have no match in bribing skills, they can persuade the govt. to provide necessary infrastructure also. But they fails completely. May be my IQ is low, I am still to find a decent explanation.

Basically the market for broadband in India is very small. Most people use the internet for very occasional browsing and checking emails. No one really cares if the speed is 1Mbps or 10 or even 256 kbps. The whole internet culture never came to India. India is still a developing nation and it will take decades to get speeds like in the first world.

Even expecting a 2MBps connection that is unlimited in India is too much.
Our government also has a very strange culture of withholding bandwidth for some unknown reason.
