Please give us some info on

    1) what type of connection are you using ? Bridge (Dialer ) or PPPoE (always
    on)

    2) Does the light on the modem of DSL start to flicker once you get disconnected ?

    3) post the SNR , Attenuation ratio from you router

    4) type ipconfig /all in CMD and post the screen shot

Try the OpenDNS as mentioned by some of the members or phone BSNL and ask them which DNS server nos they are using....maybe it is possible to feed these nos in your router settings page (In User defined....or something similar depending on your router)

    Try this
(1.)Disable Firewall (windows or third party)
    (2.)Clear cache/cookies in webrowser
    (3.)Reset modem....reboot modem
(4.)Restart modem, browser with firewall disabled
    or
    Try a CMD...ping 192.168.x.x......post results
    or
    Try a CMD..netstat -an.....post results

If i was in your place
(1.)I would have first backed up all data(personal) to another location....another hardrive/if not too much maybe to a DVD-RW
(2.)Booted the Computer with the OS CD....formatted all your partitions
    (3.)Reinstalled OS ,
(4.)Next installed a good antivirus (examples: Avast or NOD32 or Bitdefender or Kaspersky or AVG or any other one of your choice but NOT Norton (my opinion only)
(5.)Keep antivirus ON at all time and update it
(6.)Next installed a software firewall...there are some real good ones.
(7.)Only than would i start installing all programs needed....that way if there is some virus in the programs you are installing the antivirus may detect(all antivirus are not 100% fullproof)
    (8.)Installed Antispyware programs
    (9.)Made all necessary settings
(10.)Run scans with antivirus programs, antispyware program
(11.)Defragment drives, clean temp folders, cookies etc
(12.)NOW the most important part use a imaging software like Ghost, Acronis (personally i use Acronis and ghost)
(13.)Make an image....you can follow the guide given by nethack with ghost (if i m not mistaken) or use direct Acronis or anything which you feel comfortable.
(14.)During all this time Do Not Go On The Net....other than only to update the antivirus or your firewall.....only check if google or some clean site opens.
Just to check if your browser is working.....Do Not Browse any further.
(15.)Now copy back all your backup data from the other location....(another hardrive/DVD-RW) where you had copied before and scan this with antivirus.

Once you do all this you will never have to fear of any virus as even if they come or if there is some problems with some programs you can restore your image of OS to the clean image when you had no problems within 5-10mins. I have been using this imaging software for the last 8-9 years and never have to worry about any virus or any other "OS hanging", browser not opening etc, as the moment i face these problems i go back to my good image

This is only my piece of advice....to give you a permanent solution.....please follow whatever other esteemed members tell you if this is too much of a burdern

Very likely a virus problem. Start with registry cleaners.

    1. CA Yahoo antispy

    2. CCleaner

Use both of them in the order mentioned. Here is the link

You can also try a full system scan. It is not advisable to depend on just antivirus. Now it is era of anti spy, anti malware, reg entries and browser Hijacks.

If you end in formatting C drive, please try
