I am using 500C plan my usage so far this month is less than 300 MB I do notmal surfing like checking email, checking bank a/c, online payments, downloading attachments log files of our application to trouble shoot. etc,etc.. I don't know how you come to the conclusion saying "their capped plans are not trustworthy enough". I do downloads heavy during 2-8 am. My last months usage is around 1.4 GB. This month it is a bit low as there were not many complaints using our application.

I feel something is wrong with his system, may affected by some virus, malware.

    Default re please help

    Hi Deepmohan,
    Thanks for your help.
    1. Well, I am not keeping an eye and don’t know how to monitor other than installing the bitmeter or any other software.
    2. Yes, it could be possibility that software’s or anti-virus updates or going on. However i saw usage of one day going upto to 800MB even though there wasn’t much customer activity. I check with all of them if they did some big download and all said NO.
    3. UL750 seems to be for the Home usage. Can I use the same plan for Cyber-Cafe? I thought we can only use the business plans for cyber cafe. Like BSNL unlimited BSNL. sorry the post didnt allow me to add the link.
    4. I am thinking of moving to unlimited plan of 3300 hundred. But if i do that than I will have net profit of 2000/4000 rupees per month as the sales reaches 7500 approximately. I was hoping to earn 6000 from it so that i have small business running.

    Meetdilip,
    1. Which cyber cafe software can i use? I googled and can see many free as well. Can you please recommend me something
    2. I am going to place bitmeter and will check if there is any download/upload activity when system is idle. I can see the upload activity in BSNL reports. I have McAffe anti-virus. DO you recommend to install anything else please.

    Frineds,
Please give me your inputs and guidance. I have already stopped customers using the cafe and put the CLOSED sign as I can not afford to take more losses for this month.

    Please help.
    Thanks

Domestic plans cannot be used for a cyber cafe. Please use download.com and select the one whose features most suitable for your requirement. Choose the one from which you can monitor usage. If it goes up, you should be able to identify from your main computer. Bitmeter can raise an alarm when there is a heavy download. A normal browsing will not cost more than 25 MB per hour. You install bitmeter in every system and set alarm if usage per hour is more than 100 MB. When you download 10 MB, there will be around 2.5 MB as upload, which is normal.

    Thanks Dilip.

I have only 3 computers in cafe and the download usage that was reported in BSNL bill and on their site spans the download like 800, 600 MB from morning 8:30 AM to 10:PM. Even though I open the shop at 9:30 AM. Also, i never get customers all the day as its a small town. and they usually surf for 30 minutes and at max an 1 hour. so i was just thinking what whould have spanned the download for 4 hrs, 6 hrs , 10 hrs and download 70--800 MB.

I am just afraid that some malware/virus is there which I am not able to catch. I am going to try these softwares tomorrow.

    Warm regards

If there is usage details with time when you didn't use, it can be a possible hacking. Please register a complaint raising this point. Install Shaplus Bandwidth meter and note the usage before assigning the system to the user, and check after he finish.

Run a scan with CA Yahoo Antispy, I suggest you switch to Avira and run a full system scan. Use CCleaner and clean the registry. You will find tools in my signature (Top 7 Tips.....).

that bitmeter link seems to be invalid. It throws up a html document instead of a zip file.

Thank you very much Dilip. I am going to try these things for next 3-4 days and have shutdown my cafe for customers.

Just to add, shall i charge customers for big downloads? And, just wondering how will net get hacked as I am using ADSL modem internet using a phone. SO just wondering a bit. Also, I will doubt that people in my town has capability to do that as they are still new to internet world( just like me ).

1 ) I will get rid of McAffe and install Avira.
    2) I will install bitmeter and will use the upload/download when system is idle and when customer starts and ends use
    3) I will run the CA Yahoo Antispy

    Thanks again

    Welcome

Charging customers is purely based on your competition. If it is indeed a virus the customers won't be happy. A BSNL line can be hacked, check with the exchange to know whether there is port binding for you account. Or you can simply use the same password and ID at your friend. If it works, it is not port binded.

Yes, I dont want to make customer happy considering a small user base. Just a bit worried that BSNL did not give me any user/pwd. Things gets more complicated at small towns when BSNL people are on holiday every other day

I will check with BSNL office if it is port binded or not. Also, I am thinking of keeping my cafe closed for couple of days. This way i will figure out if there is any usage even I am not using. If yes then something bad.

    Regards

Ask for portal ID (14 digit), username and password (usually password ). In exchange, they will keep it in their records. A phone call can do the trick.

No its not too much dude, I don't consider myself download savvy and I download atleast 2gb between 5AM to 8AM. So if somebody keeps his PC on for 2AM to 8AM he can easily cross 5GB!

    Possible reasons :
1.Someone else is using your wireless. check ttp://bbservice.bsnl.in/ to how to secure it.
2.Virus. Use good anti virus like Antivir.
3.Bsnl clock are not synced with your comp.So start your Night Unlimited download 5-10 Min later.By the way do you reconnect after 2 am ad also at 8 am.
4.Listening music is data intensive. Use an external meter like NetMetre.
