    No there is no need to shutdown your desktop to use Wi-Fi on laptop.

    you can use both simultaneously.

    Hi,

    Thanks again for clarification. Now after some study i understand that we need to share the internet connection on the desktop & internet. any guides/instructions on that?

    Hope you meant desktop and laptop.

    No there is no need to share hope in your scenario there is one desktop and one laptop.

    Desktop can access internet from the Ethernet Port and cable and your laptop can access the internet from the Wi-Fi Connectivity simultaneously.

    For that you will have to enable the the wireless option in the modem/router, and you laptop will detect the same under the wireless networks through which you can connect your laptop.

    Hope this helps.

    well you cant access simultaneously as of now , because you are in bridged mode , you need to change your modem to pppoe mode to have it working sumultaneously. .. for wireless just login to your router and go to the WIRELESS option and enable it..select an SSID and set a WEP or WPA key

    Sorry i missed that point in my earlier post in bridge mode you cant access both simultaneously, for the same you will have to switch over to PPPoE mode in your modem/router.

    @superprash2003
