    Default Dmz, mtu, mru

    Hi
    I am having a D-Link ADSL Router 502T

In my router settings page DMZ is enabled
    (1.)MTU-1400 (Is this value correct)
    (2.)MRU-1492 (Is this value correct)

(3.)DMZ is enabled on my router. When I try to disable it, i am able to do so, but the next time i start the router......either i cant open the modem config page or i cant access the web pages.
At such times in order to access the web pages i have changed the DNS nos to Open DNS Server nos, rebooted modem, but still cant access webpages.
As soon as i load back my old "congis settings which i have on the hardisk" everything gets back to normal.
Am not able to figure out how to solve this issue as i wanted to disable DMZ and still access the net and open router settings page.

    (4.)My current Firmware Version
    Firmware Version : V2.00B01T01.ML.20050530
    Should i update it
Is there a chance the router may be damaged
If i should update it, where can i get the correct firmware version for ADSL Router 502T.

(5.)Also when i click the "Save And Reboot" button in the Tools/System Page should not the modem lights go off and come on as if it is starting again......bcos when i click that button nothing happens to the lights... though the settings do get saved, there is not reboot.

    Modem D'LINK DSL 502T
Are you connecting to Internet In "Dialer" mode.?
or "Always On" ppp?PPPoE mode ?

    Default MTU value 1492.
    MRU related to above.

Download tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide.net for
default values and selecting new recommended values .

Better not to attempt Firmware upgrade.

DMZ is not recommended for pppoe mode & people are forced to use it on select bsnl modems like ut300r2u because there is no other way(since NAT is not available)to use torrents in pppoe mode in such modems.as far as i know DLink has no such restrictions.after disabling DMZ enable NAT or vice-versa.also for more precise replies post screenshots of your modem settings page.

    Hi
I have just tried again to disable DMZ....after disabling it , i couldnt access the webrowser....and also was able to open once the router setting page, after that the page was not opening.

So i changed the DNS Servers to openDNS 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, rebooted router and still was not able to open web pages or access the router page.

So finally again i enabled DMZ, changed back DNS nos to my previous DNS nos(ISP DNS) , rebooted router and i am able to access webpages, access router setting page.

This is really strange that by disabling DMZ i cant access the net

indeed very strange.. disabling MTU shouldnt quite restrict internet access.. are you able to ping websites during that time?

in your 1st pic enable firewall after enabling NAT & disabling DMZ.in your 2nd pic select DNS mode auto & remove the 192.168.1.1 from primary dns or select manual & put opendns in primary & secondary dns.apply & reboot modem.

    Hi
Firewall is enabled in the router, but the moment i disable the DMZ, nothing works, neither the router settings page, nor the internet web pages, so what i have done is enabled DMZ but have pointed to a static internal ip which is not on my LAN (meaning a dummy ip like say 192.168.1.87)
I than tested the PC on the Gibson Research Centre and the results show that the PC is in stealth mode, all ports are stealthed.

Is there any other site where i can check to see such test as Gibson Research Centre.

Maybe it is a bug with the DMZ on the router.

    @fms007 modem/router used :
    D'Link DSL 502T
    BSNL DNS only works.

    PROBLEM

This is really strange that by disabling DMZ i cant access the net

I am on "Always On" PPP/PPPoE mode,
and No entry in DMZ. ( NO IP address entered )
Usually in "Dialer" mode all PORTS are open.

    REF:http://210.212.160.18/broadband-conf/dlink.htm

    Delete all VPI/VCI except O and 35.

Start RUN type cmd type ipconfig /all
Post data. You can mask MAC address .

How many computers being used in your LAN ?

    Feedback please.

    Hi
    @essbebe
    modem/router used :
    D'Link DSL 502T
    BSNL DNS only works.
I didnt understand this...are you saying that with D'Link DSL 502T only the BSNL DNS work and that open DNS do not work, bcos if that is what you are saying atleast i will know that is useless trying to change different dns values (will not waste time changing dns values...rebooting router...etc...etc)

    Delete all VPI/VCI except O and 35.
How do i delete all VPI/VCI except 0 and 35

Please check my ATM VC Settings page and other pages.... (have attached new attachments), ATM VC Settings have the same values as mentioned by your
    REF:Dlink Settings for Broadband
Am attaching my settings page on ATM VC Settings, as well as the status settings page, hope this helps you in trying to understand my problem

Only thing is that i have disabled now is DHCP bcos i am using static internal ip on my LAN so there is no need of keeping DHCP enabled, and even when DHCP was enabled i still use to have the same problem with DMZ (ie disabling DMZ there was no connectivity).

How many computers being used in your LAN ?
I have 2 computers on LAN....one is connected thru ethernet LAN adapter and other is thru USB wire provided by DLink and both access the net independently, meaning can only start one computer and router and access the net...do not have to start the other computer.

Have attached ipconfig /all...a txt file
I am thinking it maybe be a bug in the router which is preventing me from disabling DMZ.
Thnxs for trying to help me out

there must be some connections page in your modem settings in which there should be various connections listed as PVC0/35,PVC1/35 etc with different values.here delete all other connections except with connection having values 0 & 35 in the name(you can also verify this by clicking on edit properties of a particular connection).

P.S. you should have mask the MAC address not the DNS ones in your text file because MAC address is unique for each computer.

Thank you for your advice .....the MAC address are changed, not mine.

Will give a try and see if there is someplace where i can delete VPI/VCI and will post back.
