Thumbs down Configure Cisco-Linksys WAG54G2 for BSNL broadband connection

    Hi Group,

    I just purchased the Cisco-Linksys WAG54G2, ADSL2+Gateway.:001_tongue:

The CD that came along with the box contained the installation files.
But there was no direct end user manual found. I have BSNL broadband and
now wish to access the internet using this MODEM + Wireless router.

When the BSNL guy came to my place, no wonder, seeing this Cisco stuff, he went mad and left my after 10 minutes. Really, though on packaging of the box says that this is very easy and user friendly device to use and install, I did not find it that way. It does need some networking knowledge and the user should be aware of the Wireless protocols. I scratched my head for a couple of hours, then also could not connect to internet. Finally had to use the age-old USB device internet to post this message.

If anyone of you have successfully been using the same device over BSNL broadband, do let me know. Only thing left with me is the BSNL broadband user id and password. I tried configuring the localhost CISCO web portal, that opens up after the installation, (192.168.1.1); I tried setting some parameters, but this didn't help.

    Regards,
    Sushrut.

    Configure UT-300R2U
    1. Configure UT-300R2U in PPPoE mode. Give it the lan ip address as 192.168.1.1.
    2. Make sure DHCP is enabled in UT-300R2U.

    Configure WAG54G2
    3. Most Linksys routers have more or less same user interface. Use the guide (Solution for multiple machines connecting to same BB connection).
    4. Make sure that the LAN IP address is 192.168.2.1
    5. I advice you to keep DHCP = ON on this router also.
    6. If you are giving static IPs to your PC (How to set TCP/IP settings), make sure that these are set as:

    IP: 192.168.2.10
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.68.2.1

You can try with this page. Here you can see the user manual. Maybe it can help you.
But I can say it's very easy to set up.

    http://www-cs.linksys.com/servlet/Sa...=7697169948B01

    1. Open your web browser. Enter
    http://192.168.1.1 in the web
    browser’s Address field. Press Enter.
    2. On the login screen, enter
    admin in lowercase letters
in both the User name and
    Password fields

    3. The Basic Setup screen appears. Enter VPI = 0 and VCI = 35

The Bsnl needs Encapsulation = RFC 2516 PPPoE
    select this
and select the Multiplexing = LLC

    Select Qos = UBR

    Enter your User Name and
    Password of the BSNL ISP.

    Click Save Settings.

    Reboot the ADSL.

    @/sushrut_kichambare

    1. Post no 6 is common to most modems.. Please try.

    2.
    see this inter active link
Enter data which you entered.in your unit.
Post screen shot/s of at least basic settings.
    '+vbasic+'

    3.
If needed any one can post the screen shots with entries.
    Always try basic settings.
    Then for wireless.

    4.
    Feedback please .
