Default Suggestions Required For BSNL Broadband Plan

    Hi guys

I want to apply for a new BSNL Broadband connection and I want the ideas of all you guys out there who are using BSNL.

I want to browse daily for around 1-2 hours
There`s some heavy downloading such as Linux releases etc.

I am thinking about Home Combo 500 .Does that plan gives 175 free calls per month or for 2 months?
Is 1.5 GB monthly limit enough for browsing, chatting daily for 1-2 hours?

What is total cost of the paln Home Combo 500 including taxes. Is there any hidden charges? What about the service and other details.

    Guys Please Help Me

    Thanks

I used to have the same Home 500 C plan (256 kbps~2 mbps, 1.5 GB usage limit, 175 free calls, etc.)

I changed it to Home 500 C+ after six months because I found that I was exceeding limits by small margin. The excess usage used to cost me around Rs. 250 and hence I thought, C+ plan was better suited to me.

As far as your requirement is considered:

    a) This plan may be just sufficient for your usage.
    b) Note that usage means download + upload. Everybody forgets about upload when they are browsing - they think (mistakenly) that since they are just browsing, they are not uploading anything.
    c) Based on my personal experience, my recommendation is, opt for Home 500 C+ plan (256 kbps~2 mbps, 2.5 GB usage limit, 50 free calls, etc.)first. See how usage occurs. Change to Home 500 C, if you are staying within 1.5 GB limit.

    Some advice:

    a) Relegate all your heavy downloads during 2 AM to 8 AM. Do not forget to reboot your modem during those times.
    b) By using firefox add-on's such as AdBlock plus, Flashblock plus, etc., you can potentially save at least 400 MB per month
    c) Turn off automatic updates. Schedule them instead between 2 AM and 8 AM.
    d) Constant keep a watch on your usage record from the BSNL portal.

    To add

    1. Home 500, 500 C or 500 C+ for heavy downloaders

    2. UL 750, UL 750+, UL 1350, UL 1350 + for users who like to browse without caring their bills.

    Option 1 - Upto 2 Mbps

    Option 2 - 256 Kbps and 512 Kbps.

For 1 to 2 Hrs browsing Home 500 C will be sufficient for you and you can do heavy download during the free hours that is 2 am to 8 am.

It will cost you 500+taxes for Bfone and Broadband, 175 calls free per month.

Thanks a lot for your guidance .I am going for BSNL because of its speed during night period (2-8) .

I think 175 free calls is also good.

But what is the total cost including tax per month for this package?

Thanks for your reply. How much does the taxes amount to?
    Service tax = 10%
Education Cess = 3% on service tax
So overall, this comes to 10.3%

Here is an example (assumed with BSNL Home 500 C plan)

    Voice
    Total metered calls = 300
    Free calls = 175
    Chargeable calls = 125
Amount = Rs. 125 (One India Plan)

    Broadband
    BB Home 500 C charges = 500
    Extra usage = Nill
    Amount = Rs. 500
    Total
    Usage Sub-total = Rs. 625.00
    Service Tax @10% = Rs. 62.50
    Education Cess = Rs. 1.88
Total = Rs. 689.38 (will be rounded off to Rs. 690/-)

    Some notes:
    1. In the very first bill after BB activation, you will see charges for Installation (may be waived off under special scheme), Modem cost, VAT on Modem cost @ 4%, BB secuirty deposit (one month's rent).
    2. Billing is always from 1st of the month till last day of the month.
    2. In the first month the charges and usage is pro-rated, i.e., if your BBis activated on 20th of the month, then your charges will be from 20th till end of the month. Usage limit is also pro-rated for 10/11 days as the case may be.

    DONT go for 500 plan
Go either for BSNL HOME 250 or UL 750 beacuse u get CONNECT and AIRTEL broadbands for 450 and 550 respectively.
