    Post low SNR margin

few days ago my bb line was out. which was fixed after i made a complaint.
since then i have very slow connection. when i complained to our area JTO about this, he replied that the exchange is far away my place so this is what i will get. I tried to convince him that previously it was fine with 14db downstream & 20 db upstream. but he refused to accept it. i have ut300rtu modem. can anyone help me to improve the speed

    After SAVE apply
    Advanced settings not selected.
Even if selected click Normal button Apply
GO to Mangement and click here
    SAVE REBOOT
Click the button below to save and reboot the router.
    WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES

Post only SNR Data with any improvement with Adsl2+ DISABLED. .

Try the neighbour's modem, if on Dialup Mode. ( Bridged ")
    or
you can enter your userID PW in WAn Page for "Always On ppp/PPPoE
    connection No other changes.

Hope you connect ALL phones AFTER the ADSL splitter.

    feed back is sketchy.
Reset the modem to factory settings
    and try dialer mode.
    or do settings again.

Download attenuation is 40db above , clearly indicates that you are at fag end of your telecom switch location.
please contact the JTO concerned and request for a copper pair change and also for a check up of the service wire landing into your home for joints. They would definitely help you to improve on the attenuation.
then, if possible seek a change of port , then let us see,
from your side, you need to remove parallel phones before the ADSL splitter.
without that nothing can improve. the low SNR of below 10 means that the copper cable, service wire, and /or the additional parallel telephones are there .

uncheck adsl2 . keep only gdmt t413 and Glite bitswap enabled.
    Report snr D/L attn.
    Inspect cables joints for blackening/oxidisaation/
    Use short new RJ11 cables.
Connect all phones afer the ADSL splitter.

    Default Low SNR intermittent connection

    @oshhh
    Option 1 :
Distressed, we could not help you out so far
    Anyway,
Meet the D.E of your exchange. ( Which exchange? . Mine is ADYAR)
Try to replace the modem. ( if on rent easy.
    Outright purchase , after a year's use
    little difficult )
Take a screenshot of SNR data page. ( or print out)
    and upload at tinypic.com and
give the reference link. to him.

Explain that in your complex ,
ONLY you have BB problem. Low SNR.
Usually in Chennai CC from tech side is good , but delayed.
If no response/remedy from your exchange :

    Option2 :
Last resort : Online complaint to ALL INDIA CC site.
    Only 200 characters allowed.

    http://mis.bsnl.co.in/pgs/internet/pgwebregn.asp
give the link and explain Line problem not solved.

    Test :
Test your modem in "Dialer" mode in your location.
    Take SNR/ATTN etc.
Request your neighbour to test the modem
    in his BSNL connection.
also data from his own modem.
Get SNR/ATTN . compare. ( to test line conditions )
This data can be used for option 1.

    Feedback.

    Feedback.
hi essbebe, sorry for the delayed feedback. My BB stopped working some days back, hence the delay. Just today it came alive, but only after measuring the length and breadth of BSNL offices for past one week.

Firstly i made a complaint to CC(1504), i was assured that the problem will be rectified within 24 hrs. then while digging this old thread of mine, you suggested me to go to the exchange (mine is FLOWER BAZAAR), which i did the very next day. I explained everything in details to the official that how i was facing the low speeds and frequent disconnections for past two months and finally my modem doesn't show internet LED lighting and nobody in the department is showing any interest to rectify and solve my problem. After hearing (or may be not hearing) everything, he very easily suggested me that i should go to the local area office(was opposite to the Nehru stadium when i first went there but now shifted in periamet exchange building. that shows how quickly my problem was solved) and see the JE of my area.

He (JE)assured me that he'll send the linemen to check the line. two days passed and no one turned up. i again went their, but to my surprise they had vacated the place. The watchman of the building guided me to their new location. The JE told me that they are busy into the shifting process and can be able to work only after settling down. By this time i had made up my mind that i am not continuing with BSNL anymore.

Then suddenly after two days i got a call that a technical officer will be visiting my place to rectify the problem. The person came promptly as said. after checking everything he made a call to the Flower bazaar exchange and instructed them to sync my connection( i don't know what that meant). He made another call to Nungambakkam exchange ( i was sure that nothing can be done and i will be paying my last BSNL BB bill next month), after finishing his call he said every thing is sorted out (changing the port ,resetting the parameters etc.etc.) and it will start working within 5 minutes. And as he said, it did work. i thanked him a lot and got his mobile no. for future use.

I really thank you for all your efforts for trying to solve my problem.
if you had not suggested to go to the exchange and all , i would have definitely surrendered the connection. You are an asset to this forum, the efforts you put into solving everyone's problems patiently is exemplary. keep doing the good work. God bless. And congratulations for completing 3000 posts & 400 repos. one from me too

P.S. Not intended to bump the old thread but i wanted everyone to know that how helpful are our IBF members are.
