in your DHCP server settings disable DHCP & assign 192.168.1.6 to your PC.do the same in your PC LAN settings.
Do I need to enter this IP in the same page as shown above. Is this the reason that I cannot connect using PPPoE but using Bridge. This time, it detects the network, but it say the Ethernet cable is broken and the data LED is not On. Please do not feel bad if I asked something silly.
in the pic you posted in left hand there is DHCP server option below LAN.go to that page & disable DHCP & enter this IP.first do this & give feedback.also just for the confirmation use a new LAN cable if you can find one.
Disable DHCP, entered 192.168.1.6 in both modem and LAN properties. Now cannot connect to internet. Modem page is also not accessible. Posting this from Windows 7 (My primary OS is XP, SP2). In W7, the IP in LAN settings is 192.168.1.2. Tried the same in XP also, without success. Shall I enable DHCP once more ?
Sorry do not have access to an extra LAN cable .

restart PC in safe mode with networking than put any IP in LAN settings & see if it stays same or changes after rebooting again in safe mode with networking.
