As far as I know only your isp can help you in this regard... most isps charge a certain amount t give you a static ip like I know of Reliance that does that.

I use torrents as well but never had the issue you have mentioned..

BSNL charges extra for Static IP. It is free with some business plans but not available with Home Plans. If you use a Home Plan and need to IP, you need to apply separately and need to pay extra.

I use UL 750. Never faced similar issues. May be it something else as majority of torrent users have dynamic IP. Some trackers do not encourage Indian IPs.

yeah that's true...very rarely you come across a private tracker which may be doing that.

But static ips don't come cheap. You should contact the torrent site staff for more help on this first...if the problem still remains un-resolved only than you should ask your ISP.

I would rather find a new tracker than waste my money on a static IP. There are always many trackers in one genre...

@supershane4141: if you have problem updating your ratio on demonoid...with your dynamic IP, don't worry. The ratio is for decoration only.

My own ratio hasn't been updated in ages...its has remained 0.3 for nearly 2 years...no matter how much I upload or download. Oh and I am still a member there.

Just before you start downloading a file of the tracker, browse their sites after clearing your cache or just logout and login again. Your IP will get recorded and that will be monitored till you attain a new IP and browse their site with that.

it won't take much time. Just logout and login again.

There is a software solution Visit freedns.afraid.org and read up on how dynamic IP addresses can be handled. In essence, you create a DNS entry which is what links a domain to an IP address. The problem comes in when your IP address changes without updating the DNS entry. Your ISP assigns you an address when you connect to them. If the connection breaks and you reconnect, there is no guarantee the same address out of the pool of available IP address will come back to you. So, the solution is a small piece of software running on the machine acting as the server which watches over things, and if your IP address changes, automatically changes the DNS entry to point to the new address, and you are out of business .for the time it takes to determine the IP address has changed and the software makes the automatic update to the DNS entry, a matter of a few minutes at most. This is how a server in a home on a local lan can be made public over the internet. Most ISP's frown on people setting up servers at home because traffic can interfere with throughput of other users of your ISP. It isn't hard to do. Check with your ISP for their policy on having a server on your home lan which is made available to the public, even if you are the only authorized person to use it. Hackers will attack any server they can find to see if there is an open port or something they can use, which means your server will get traffic even though you are the only one authorized to actually do anything. There are a huge amount of security issues you are opening yourself up to when you put up a server. What a lot of people do not realize is that any windoze machine running any version since 95, acts as both client and server. Sharing resources is a server side activity. Using resources shared by others is a client side activity. There are MANY dynamic DNS services available out there FreeDNS is just one of many. Do a simple search using your favorite search engine for keywordss such as "free dynamic DNS" should find an assortment to look over and choose from.
