not sure how correct the script is. I just followed ur instructions coupled with the how to thread instructions. The modem booted once.. but later at the bottom of the log it says unable to reboot just as you mentioned.

Besides that I have one more important doubt. There is another feature in Imran's utility that guarantees that "EVERY 4 MIN IF THERE IS NO CONNECTION THE MODEM WILL REBOOT AND TRY AND GET BACK THE CONNECTION"..

Now is this feature linked with the "LOADING OF GOOGLE, UBUNTU etc?"

Or are these two features separate things altogether? If so can you tell me what is the concept using which it detects that the connectivity is lost?

Also I got one idea just now. If we can mozilla to autorefresh every xx seconds using MOZILLA RELOADEVERY addon, then we get the same effect of fooling the server that a person surfing the net on his pc right? So there won't be any bandwidth throttling na?

we could achieve that using macro manager automation. Perhaps the only thing which a macro manager can't do is detect if connectivity is lost.

That's why am asking if those 2 IMran features are interlinked?

leave the log after activating the utility in your task bar did you tested whether the modem got rebooted....? if not check it . add a time in modem tab say for 5 min and check whether it rebooted or not.

Deep yes yes that I already checked the first time itself. Gave a starting time and an ending time for NICs and then gave some 2 or 3 intermediate booting times in the MODEM tab. And that part of it worked perfectly.

Am asking if it will detect a no-connectivity situation and reboot ?

ya it should reboot still i have not faced that stituation... even u can see in the log too when we disable the nic it trys to reboot the modem but it fails because nic is disabled.

ok that's gr8. Since the automatic loading of google, ubuntu every 50 ms is not working so what I'll do is I'll record a macro and schedule it at my desired time to open mozilla and keep refreshing it so as to simulate what Imran does. (To prevent throttling).

    Is that ok?

ya thats greate .... but before you fully leave everything on imran's utility and go to sleep just do through testing whether it is working all right or not otherwise you will end up with huge billl ...

But I've got no idea how to change my configuration to bridged mode and neither do I know what are the differences between bridge and PPPOE mode.

In Bridge mode, you need to connect manually using a dialler (like the old dial up connection), in PPPoE mode, you can connect simply by switching On the modem.

this is the general procedure for changing the mode.
if you tell your router model, can guide you perfect.

    type 192.168.1.1 in your browser
when asked for username and password typr "admin" without quotes for both username and password.

there goto advanced setup/wan settings (depends on router model)
in next page there will be option to select PPPoE mode ot Bridge mode select Bridge mode and save and exit, your router will re-boot and its done

Select Bridge instead of PPPoE in modem (Kiran has kindly taken the burden to describe the procedure).

Create a dialler, not one with phone no, but with ISP ID (use name without @bsnl.in) and password (usually password )

Control Panel > Network Connections > Create a new connection >

Connect to the internet > Setup my connection manually >

Connect using a broadband connection >
