    Default BSNL : ERROR 691 : Issue

    HI,

    My BSNL broad band connection stopped working.When i try to connect it gives me 691 error saying cannot validate username/password and etc...

    i am able to see ADSL signal on the modem and every thing seems to be correct.I didn't change the user name ,password or any thing it stopped working suddenly.I don't usually use the land line with the broad band, So when i tried connecting to call customer care even i dail tone is not coming up.

    So i am not able to figure out if the problem is with the connection line/ modem or any thing else.Did any one faced a similar issue?.

    I called the customer care and they raised a ticket for the problem, but no one showed up till now..

    This hapenned to me once and remained for 48hrs or so. Guys from BSNL told me it was due to some server repairing works.

    You have to wait till Dialtone
    is heard in your telephone line.

    Mention modem/model/make in future posts.

    You can try connecting RJ11 from Phone junction
    direct to Modem .( without using ADSL splitter)
    ( Check ADSL splitter connections/cables are OK )

    @essbebe,i think error 691 is independent of hardware/line issues as it is a username/password error because of authentication failure at bsnl's side.

    I have this same feeling and had suffered the same issue but as soon as i switched off my router/modem and restarted it ............... it got connected .although this has happened to me just once .

    this happens when server is down due to some technical work

    I have experienced this 5 or 6 times. I cant figure out what the problem is and how it gets fixed. Even restarting modem and computer didnt work. But if I try to connect again after few hours, it usually works.

    Also other people in the neighbourhood under same exchange got connected while this happened to me.

    last month there was no dial tone and no BB in my line. when I went to complain they said that there is some fault in the system and everything would be ok by evening.
    so it did.

    I can even connect to Broadband , When the phone is dead. Its probably because they are different frequency.

    There is no Connection with the Phone Signal. BB Service use the Telephone line but this is not mean there is a connection with the phone service and thats why some user say the portbind works with the telephone number. wrong things. when you see the person's account profile in BB RAS then you can understand what the portbind is.

    yes, this happened with me also once, when local BSNL guys where doing repair work.
    Better check up with local BSNL office .
