mention the modem/router/wifi you are using.
Confirm you are connected to Internnet and can surf, with either system
in LAN /mode.

Even i have vista in my lap n xp in my desktop..... its very easy... just install usb driver in any one system... connect the usb cord to that system and lan cable to the other.. n u r done..

u can even share data to transfer between both systems.. provided ur modem supports the feature.. m using zte zxdsl 831 aII modem.
