Thread: strange problem

i have modem ut 300r2u.it is having a status light which is blinking normally but when it does not blink and is continuous on or it is continuous off. the net connects but the the page, either any page, doesnot opens neither torrent is working.

please be more specific about what you want to ask, so that members can understand and help you.

This could be a temporary issue. This happens sometimes when BSNL reboots their servers. So you are able to connect to the BSNL network, you are authenticated but since the gateway and other servers are not ready, you are not able to browse. But this is a temporary phenomenon.

You should contact BSNL for this as it may be a local phenomena.

i have ased bsnl personnels but they the problem is in my windows.but how could it be as i had installed a new copy of windows working properly all of a sudden net disconnects and reconnecting again it connects but no browsing takes place.

Disconnection are mainly line problem which BSNL people hardly agree. Try to download a copy of Knoppix Live CD, insert it and check from Knoppix. By this way you can confirm whether it is a Windows issue or not.

You can try this:

1.
Start Network Lan Properties
Click tcp/ip
Properties
In DNS enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
If you want to retain the existing DNS ( BSNL)
click Advanced and enter in the new page..
APPLY SAVE.

2.
Also in your Modem Under Statistics check ADSL Data
If Mod selected is ADSL2+ change to GDMT
Post screen shot as annexure here. to check snr attn etc.

3.Suggestion:
Before making any changes in Modem settings ,
Save existing settings to Hard disk.
( or take screen shots of all the pages )

Sometimes ISP's connection gets disconnected and reconnects later.
