Changed from ADSL2+ to G.Dmt, still frequent disconnects continue.

I am able to browse for hours without any disconnect, but as soon as I start downloading the disconnects start (after Every 17-18 MB), so could it be a policy on BSNL server?

I've observed that most people facing this issue are with 500c+ plan, can others with same plan confirm/deny facing this issue so we can try to isolate the cause?

Please help in getting rid of this disconnection issue, I am unable to download anything > 20 MB on this link.

Thanks in advance

@ndsoanjh

Any update? Are you still facing the disconnection problem? If not.. what did you do to get it resolved?

Pls share..
I have been using home 500 connection for about 2.5 yrs, but never had this kind of problem. In fact I have used 3 home 500 connections in 3 different cities, but never faced a disconnection problem.

@shanky,

Are the disconnections during any time or during the nights only? BSNL does not implement any "back door methods" so that you get continuous/frequent disconnections.

Have a look at this article: SNR Margin and Line Attenuation - What do they mean?

i have the problem of interruption. it is always there during day, night,early morning every time for that matter.mine is 125 plan. downloading bigger files then 10 mbnot possibloe. due to this problem even railway timetable is also not possible to get without interruption. at times i do get the connection.

if the dsl indicator on the modem is on while i get disconnected,,, what is the reason it may be? mine is bsnl dataone. at times it is disconnected . within a few seconds it comes back. but due to this i am not able to download fruitfully. those which can be directed downloaded and which do not aloow resume capability is lost. i have to start from the very beggining. onl y the status indicator and the internet indicator is missing for a while. any suggestions?

The problem may be because of a virus called Z-connect which is spreading through USB drives.

Just go to "My network connections" page on your PC and delete the virus z-connect.

Everytime z-connect comes up, it disconnects the internet.So better make z-connect ur default connection by entering bsnl acocunt details in that.

Then,your internet will be continuous....

Ok, I got the port changed on the local exchange and the disconnect issue is gone, so the earlier port was causing the disconnections.
  • If the LINK is stable and you get disconnected ONLY while downloading, try to get the port changed at your local exchange.
  • If the LINK light goes off while browsing, its a line issue.. get the line tested end to end between the Local Exchange and your modem, make sure joints if any are clean and taped, Spliter connections are proper and fit snugly etc. The telephone line could have Ground (Earth issues) and you maybe able to hear noise on the handset too. In such cases, try to get the pair changed to a clean one.
Hope it helps.

Even i have the same problem,but i don't think the problem is hardware-related(splitter or phone line or .. ). Here are the things i've done:

I'm using WA3002-G4.First i connected using PPPOE.I was able to connect immediately,but after sometime my net used to disconnect and re-connect (similar to the problem that everyone is facing).

So what i did was i changed from PPPOE to Bridge mode(Dialer Mode).When i did that ,then i started to face a different problem. I started getting "Limited or no connectivity" error and it used to take a long time for the net to connect.I have to switch off and on my modem several times.But once it gets connected then then no problem, it will not get disconnected and i can even download torrents at very high speeds.

So i followed the solution given here w ww.indiabroadband.net/broadband-how/17039-how-repair-limited-no-connectivity.html. That solution was able to remove the "Limited or no Connectivity" error,but now the old problem is back.It has again started to disconnect and reconnect.

Another thing i noticed when i put it in Bridge mode(Dialer mode),my NOD32 Internet Security suite(av,firewall,anti-spyware) took a longer time to load.

So what i've understood is ,the problem is not hardware related but software related.Correct me if i'm wrong?! Any solutions!

I recently changed to Netgear ADSL wireless router. Earlier I was using MT 841 (Type III) modem.When I was using MT 841 modem, even though the line was free from noise, disturbance.I used to have this frequent disconnection problem very often.

But now after I have changed to Netgear ADSL wireless router, I am not having any frequent disconnection issues. I have been observing this for 5~6 days. There's no frequent disconnection at all.

Not sure if this is because of the change in the router. But iam really happy with the outcome.

If you have your old router in place then switch back to it and just check whether you are having the disconnection problem or not, if you have the problem then it might be a compatibility issue or router problem.

Anyway netgear is always a good choice.

I checked with my old router & it was having the disconnection problem. I guess the modem was a faulty one. I really regret for not changing the modem for such a long time.
