Please check your phone line, usually the problem lies in the splitter ,to check it bypass the splitter & connect the phone line to ur modem directly & then surf the net for around 1 hour. If you dont face any disconnections in this test then you need to replace ur splitter. ( even i had this problem )

Default BSNL Broadband may need Bridge Settings

    Dear friend,

Do u set Bridge in your router properly, frequent disconnection is due to normal connection settings in router, convert your settings to BRIDGE mode.
    Help desk may help you.

Also remember to tell them the ERROR Code you are getting while disconnection.

If still problem persits change router and try again.
If still problem persists then try to disable the firewalls in your system
Other problems of frequent disconnections may be POWER Fluctuations, Packet loss.

Pardon me .. I am not much aware of this abbreviation.
, What is NIC?. Where do i need to check it?.

I really appreciate your effort in helping me solve the problem mate!..

    Kind Regards
NIC means network interface card... or network adapter or LAN card... the slot where ur LAN wire is connected in ur PC is the sweet spot! Check it at any vendor's store...

i had frequent disconnections few months back....problem was with my telephone line...my snr margin was below 10...bsnl officers changed my line and problem got solved...now i have 5 pair lines

u too have low snr margin...check whether there is any noise in ur telephone line by pressing a key in telephone...if u hear any noise, problem is definitely with ur telephone line...

    I tried some things yesterday.

    1. Bypassed the Splitter and connected directly to the modem.
Observed for around 2 hrs. Problem still continued.

    2. Checked with the helpdesk about the bridge settings , and found all settings proper.

    3. The Ethernet port (network port) is Onboard (Intergrated).
I have re-checked it and the connection is proper.

As suggested, I plan to request the JTO or DE to change the wiring.
Somehow i need to convince them, as they feel , there is no problem from thier side.

    Thank you guys !!!...
I really appreciate the time taken by all of you to help me out!!..

    Will keep you updated!

Even I've the same problem. very frequent disconnection from net (every 5 mins). All my messenger (yahoo, gtalk) relogs in and any donwload get stopped. But torrents uninterrupted.
The disconnection is only for few seconds and all the modem lights are on!
    Solutions I've tried:
-->The airtel ppl came and updated firmware of modem the next day. No use
-->They replaced my modem with a new one the next day i complained. Again no use!!
-->I even reinstalled vista as a fresh copy. Same!
-->I've removed the splitter and it dint disconnect for 50 minutes now.. lemme see how long it goes! (It seems to be a problem with the splitter!)

Thanks guys for the contribution!! (Such a slilly boy, I dint recognize it must be splitter problem:yawn

Oops, I again experienced the same problem even after removing splitter.
But this time its not tat frequent! Any suggestions??!?

    Thumbs down

Hi, I recently reinstalled my pc to fix some other problems. I noticed that frequent disconnection problem still exists. I have already made complaints in BSNL but nobody turns up

Thanks, but my problem still exists. I need to do something more to find the cause of disconnections and pc getting hanged.
In a thread with more than 45 posts, you
should repeat in brief the details.
because like "Antakshri" only last post is read mostly!!

Modem : siemens c2110 ( *Change Mod to GDMT)
    Computer : OS reinstalled (* XP Sp3 updated ?)
Problem : PC freezes NOW only if BB/ connected. ( Post 33)

    Suggestion 1.
    When PC freezes Press CTRL+ALT+DEL
see which applications are NOT RUNNING.
See Which Process Has hogged max memory.
    Feedback.

    Suggestion2 :
    TRY
    Download Anvir Task Manager free
    and install it.

Windows task manager processes, Windows startup, Startup programs, Vista tweaks | Windows,

I am getting my connection disconnected quite frequently. I get steady connection for 10 minutes or so and then gets disconnected.

Here is what my readings are
    DSL Status true
    Last Failed 0x00000063
    Downstream Data Rate 2041200
    Upstream Data Rate 507000
    SNR (Downstream) 31.0 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 27.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 26.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 12.0 dB
    Connected Standard ADSL2+

    Is that okay?

    Connected Standard ADSL2+
1.Mention modem model and make. and tariff plan.

    2.Try to uncheck Adsl2+

    3and try GDMT T413 Glite adsl2 . Bitswap enabled.

    4.SNR/ATTN seems acceptable.
    SNR (Downstream) 31.0 dB GOOD
Line Attentuation(Downstream) 26.0 dB need to lower this.

5.Ensure ALL Phones connected AFTER ADSl splitter PHONE port.
    6.
Extension phones in other rooms need ADDITIONAL ADSL splitter. ( if concealed internal phone connections )

Disconnection is not a problem, the problem is actually if it does not reconnect.

So uncheck the box which says "auto disconnect if connection not in use", in the connection settings in your BSNL dial up, uncheck the box in your BSNL connection properties which says prompt for password, then it would automatically connect without confirmation, check the box below which says , "reconnect if line is dropped".

Disable auto disconnect option in IE connection settings.

All these might help in uninterrupted connection.

a good way to test is to disconnect all telephones temporarily and see if you still face disconnection..

Angry BSNL Home 500 frequent disconnection !!!

I'm using BSNL Broadband Home 500 plan for 2yrs but facing a strange problem recently [1 month]. My connection gets frequenly disconnected during evening and at night. The ADSL Light goes off and after a few seconds or minutes it blinks and comes again but I cannot reconnect. I'm using PPPoE Dial-up mode and it shows a message Connecting to Wan Miniport PPPoE but nothing happens.

My modem is a Huawei Smart AX MT882 and details are below

Model Name MT882 Firmware Version V200R001C01B021SP03
    Jun 20 2005

    ADSL Line Status :
    ADSL State - Show Time
    Data Path - Fast
    DSP Version - D.57.2.17
    Operation Mode G.DMT
    Output Power 11.3 dB

    SNR [Upstream] - 31 dB
    SNR [Downstream] - 36.0 dB

    Attenuation [Upstream] - 11.0 dB
    Attenuation [Downstream] - 23.0 dB

Anyone who had came accross this problem please help .

i didnt understand it, may be you just wanted to say you are in dial up mode ie Bridge not PPPoE ok

ADSL link problem can be solved by BSNL so check if your line has any disturbance ie pick the handset and dial 1 and wait and see if you hear any disturbance.... if so call BSNL and complaint & they will rectify it...!

As your SNR values are high and attenuation is low, there is no problem with the line. I suspect that your splitter may be faulty.
