Thread: Cant setup broadband connection in vista!

Hi, my frnd bought a new pc. I installed vista ultimate sp1 on his pc. but the problem is that i cant setup the broadband connection in the traditional way of creating a new connection from network devices. after giving the username and password the window hangs at connecting through WAN miniport. He doesnt have a LAN card so he is using it through USB. Plz help in this regard.

1.Mention the type of modem model make.
2. START NETWORK LAN
check status of your usb lan connection.
3.
Uninstall the USB drivers.
Disconnect Usb modem connection to computer.
Insert cd and copy usb drivers files to say C:/Modem USB drivers.
Restart computer. Connect modem to Usb Port
Let Vista detect new hardware.

ya the installation cd is there. i dont know the xact model no. of the modem (its my friend's pc, i will go to his house in the eve and check it out) but its a Huawei make.

how come a new PC does not have a LAN Card?
for USB u may need to download the drivers for Vista

I solved it yesterday. The problem was that the usb driver in the modem cd wasnt able to install in vista. but when it was installing, i connected to the internet by setting up a new connection and it connected fine. after the installation the installation wizard said that the driver could not be loaded bcoz of the OS. but instead of giving it a chance to roll back its changes, i ended the process from task manager and everything is working fine now. thanks for all of ur suggestions. and btw it was a Huwaei MT882 modem.
