Depends, if you want to be mobile or not. Speed will be higher in 500 C+.

cause you wont be able to open ports.. normal http download speeds will be 2mbps ( in most places , again depends on location ) .. do you travel a lot? you use a laptop?

the data card speeds are dependent on the mobile signal strength (since they are wireless connections), distance from the tower and many other factors.
While its advertised to give upto 2 mbps, in reality u will rarely go beyond 1 mbps, at best.

If all you want is a dial-up connection on the go, opt for datacard.....
At present it is only worth that much...........

I will never use bsnl provided evdo usb datacard. Speed really sucks on it. I got it disconnected after using for 4 months..still waiting for my security refund of rs2k after one year..but broadband hul 750 plan is really doing nice for me..

    1. connect data card to laptop.
    2. log-in
    3. switch on wifi of laptop
    4. create wifi connection with device with option to share internet connection.

u can use audio chat. video chat may be difficult due to bandwidth fluctuations.
BSNL EVDO mostly uses (or atleast used to have) shared IP. so torrents would not work. in case of TATA/Reliance this may not be an issue.

If u're using datacard, plz post your maximum and minimum speed (http download-not torrent). how much kb/sec u can download and upload?
    e.g. i got 150-300kb/sec download speed in home 500plan. upload speed 30-60kb/sec.

I think the shared IP problem is fixed (Saw some post in EVDO section).

    Here it is

http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-e...ynamic-ip.html (Bsnl evdo now on dynamic ip)
