Default BSNL Data one Router not working

Hi, I have BSNL Broadband connection with UTSTARCOM make UT300R2U router/modem. Since last few days its Internet is not working.
When the modem is switched on, all the LEDs are on for a moments and then only poweron LED and USB LEDs are on. DSL LED is OFF. My phone is working. I have tried to connect the modem on other phone line ( not having the Broadband) but DSL LED is off.
I wanted to know the problem
Is it line problem or modem problem. I read somewhere that DSL light should be on if it is connected to any phone line

Yes, what you have read is correct.

DSL light should be on if the phone line is connected to it and if the internet connection is working from BSNL server.

Now as the light is not glowing,

    1) Is it not coming at all or it keeps on blinking ?

    2) Have you confirmed from the exchange that server is up ?
(as i read there is problem in kolkata sector and net will not be available for 15 days. So check in your sector too)

    3) Remove all the phone, splitter everything and connect the incoming phone line from the pole to the router and check it.

    4) I hope you should be able to open your browser and connect router by typing 192.168.1.1, when prompted for user name and password type as admin for both.

Now go to the statistics tab and post the screen shot of it here.

1.Since last few days its Internet is not working.
    2.My phone is working.
3.I have tried to connect the modem on other phone line ( not having the Broadband)
No 3 will not work as telephone number is different.

No 2. Since Phone is working BSNL line is OK.
    BSNL BB server problem ?
contact 1500 Customer Care to check.
How is the weather there ?

No 1. Since it worked earlier,
Connect modem/ adsl splitter/computer in usual manner.
    Start RUN type cmd ok
    new Window:
    type ping 192.168.1.1 .
    Do you get a response ? say 1 or 2 ms ?

    IF
    NO
    Start run type cmd ok
    new window
    type ipconfig /all

    post Data here.
    usually 192.168.x. X
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.x.x ( modem default address )

    ELSE
open browser try new Modem IP address.
    Check Diagnostics page in modem.

    THEN

    Go to
    Start /Network/ show all connections
    select LAN
    repair.
what error message you get ?

    REF:
    UT-300R2U ADSL MODEM MENU

i guess its a problem on their end.. just make sure that the telephone line coming to your modem works fine.. you could connect a telephone to that line just to see if its working.. if the DSL led is still not coming up , then do call up 1500 or 18004241600 and lodge a complaint
