    you dont quite need to upgrade firmware.. just make sure that your LAN connections are correct.. and check to see if your first able to access the modem by going to http://192.168.1.1

    @starnour

    why are you so emphasizing pressed the modem and lights must flash and blah blah and to be frank i didnt get your problem (may be my brain is all washed away due to my exams lol)

    anyways i am supposing that you are having trouble accessing internet (simple)?

    Ans:

    First tell whether you are connected in PPPoE mode or bridge mode?

    another thing which you should consider that when the modem is new there is a possbility that the routing capabilities of the modem are turned off so as a result you are not getting connected(not getting a suitable IP address from the modem ) to the router/modem... thats why you are not able to open http://192.168.1.1

    You should assign a manual IP address and then see...

    I hope this helps

    and for the lights all the lights are turned on and glows continously except the for the wi-fi one and the Internet one or if you are connected in bridge mode that internet light will then glow constantly..

    starnour your modem is dead
    Change it.
    Nothing you can do from your side even you can't flash the modem untile a service center's member open your modem and flash from their computer software, which software are provided by the Huawei to the Huawei service center's members.
    If possible go to the Huawei service center
    or change it.

    ok.. i had a similar issue with a friend's modem once.. he mentioned the same thing that all the lights of the modem were ON irrespective of whether LAN was connected or not , or even DSL was present or not. That ended up being a modem issue and he got it replaced by bsnl for free..since you said all LED are ON , i have a feeling its a modem issue..
