Torrent speed depends on a lot of things. In normal circumstances a 700MB file on a ul750 should not take more than 7.5 hours.

Have you forwarded your ports? Without portforwarding you can not achieve maximum potential speed.

do i need to portforward even in bridge mode?

i run only 1 laptop over the connection n still the speed irritates

am i the only sufferer of low speeds or is it common with others too?

The best thing about UL750 is no headache about billing woes - download as much as you can, anytime you like, etc.

    Downside - slow speeds.

So yes. UL750+ is worthwhile - UL750 (without the plus), is not.

As 18lama said, port forwarding is necessary for getting maximum throughput.

I use UL 750. I can download around 80+ MB on torrents with enough seeds.
Always choose a torrent with enough seeds. Try port forwarding. Go to portforward.com, select your modem and follow the steps.

No in bridge mode you don't need to do port forwarding.

Than I have to ask you where do you download torrents from? If you d/l them from piratebay or mininova you will most likely never get full potential speed.

so after portforwarding how much do i gain in terms of dwld speed?

currently i get avg dwld speed of 20-21 kBps n top rate of 31-32 kBps

is it needed in bridge mode of connection also?

No in bridge mode you don't need to do port forwarding.

Now tell me where do you download your torrents from?

Port forwarding helps you attain the maximum possible speed. I think you are banking on torrents with not enough seeds. Choose a good torrent with enough seeds. Use a Knoppix Live CD torrent and check the speed.

Port forwarding is not required if the mode is bridge.

ctrl + P > Bandwidth, trial and error with settings, set higher no of connection.

There will be a green tick on the bottom of the utorrent window indicating port status. Click it and set your speed as xx/256k.

Torrent speeds pick up after a while - initially they may be low.

Make sure that your upload speed is not too high.

    a) Take a speedtest
    b) Note down the upload speed
    c) Set the upload speed to 80% of your real upload speed.

From uTorrent, select Tools --> Speed guide. Try the following setting first.

Well it seems that u're indeed getting fine speed if it touches 30-32 KBps mark.

Coz 750UL plan gives 256 kbps, therefore 256/8=32...

No need to worry mate. If u've got the Nokia-Siemens C2110 modem then no need for port forwarding as it is a UPnP compatble modem. Just remember to check the same option in your torrent client.
For μTorrent its Options-->Preferences-->Connection-->"Enable UPnP port mapping"

and no need for a bridge mode connection. Unbridge ur LAN connection mate!

Also check whether the small green tick mark icon appears in Status Bar of ur μTorrent client.

first of all ur speeds are touching 30 mark
    that is good
    no problems in that
    Download torrents from private trackers
They will give you max speed
I also use UL750 and my speed never goes above 28
Coz i know i have not forwarded my port
And on 30kbps speed it does not take 20 hrs for 700MB it only needs 8 hrs.
