It shows windows default IP 169.254.203.213
    1 .
problem is above. IP.. This is automatic Ip by Windows,
    Normally appears when TCP/IP
obtain IP address automatically is selected.

    You have mentioned
PC1 is working fine with the present modem settings.
Check ipconfig /all of this PC1.
    2.
Then , when you change the RJ45 to PC2
[PC2 lan card is in working condition.]
again check the ipconfig /all data.
should be same! and should work .

    3. Delete the present LAN connection in PC2
    Create new one .
    Start /All programs/Accessories/Communications/
    Network connection Wizard.

    4. Then in PC2
    Start /network/ LAN
    Status.
    Support
    Repair
    What error message you get.?

If you use a dialler or wireless connection the values need to be entered in the respective connection icons in the control panel. You can configure static IP instead of dynamic IP. It will be only a minor change. Enter 192.168.1.25 instead of 192.168.1.2

Default Problem Not solved for three months .No feeback from you.

    ZTE-ZX-DSL 831AII :
to connect my newer PC via ethernet it is not working
but working well with usb connect.
It shows windows default IP 169.254.203.213
    Problem here!

    1.
Connect the OLD PC1 to the modem .
    Post ipconfig /all data here
    Confirm Internet working fine.
    2
    connect PC2 to USB port
    Postipconfig /all data here
    confirmed Internet working:
    3.
Remove the USB cable from PC2
    Connect Rj45 to computer.
    Postipconfig /all data here.
    4.
    You have IP address problem.
    DHCP range 192.168.1.1
    to say 192.168.1.10
Default modem gateway for USB and LAN will be different.
but IP address of computer must be same
