Default AutoDisconnect Modem when data transfer limit crossed

    Hi,
I am new to broadband and found to my utter shock that i ran up a huge bill because I did not limit my data transfer amount to 2.5GB and went way beyond this limit. Is there any way to disconnect the modem automatically using some scripts and internet monitors, etc. when a certain amount of data transfer has happened?
It will be a great help to a lot of ppl like me.

    Halite.

    Option 1.

You can watch the download and Total data
( with provision to exempt NU usage 0200-0800AM)
with shaplus meter 1.3. ( for each month)
Check the MB of proposed download and
    program during NU periods.

    OPTION 2

You can use FireFox browser with add on
    adblock plus/NOScript, and Flash Block
to block often seen pictures/flash/video etc and
reduce download by 30 to 40%

Monitor total download every day with Add on
    Data Fox.
You will get info about quota available,
Usage exceeded etc above Task Bar.

    Option 3:

Please await further posts for automatic
    disconnection.

    INFO
You may get "WARNING" email lettter from BSNL
    to continue surfing.

You can register for SMS alerts when you cross your usage.

    Web Registration for Usage Alerts

Your BSNL email ID will receive an alert email when the usage limit is crossed. You can use Bitmeter, a bandwidth meter to set alerts when your limit is crossed.

1.experienced some problem with Shaplus 1.3 in wif mode.
readings cross checked with DataFox did not tally.

2 suggest try this FREE meter.
Bandwidth monitor, bandwidth speed test, bandwidth and traffic monitoring tool for Windows
