    hi
im facing a strange problem when im downloading torrents its giving good speed and other normal downloads are become very slow. some times even web page is not opening. in using win 98 and realtek rtl-8139d pci adapter. speeds with direct http downloads is 22~35 kBps with direct downloads. For torrenting the speeds will hover between 60~140 kBps.can anybody help me solve this problem.

Are you talking everything (downloading) at the same time? Then yes. Your downloads will slow down as all downloads share the same pipe.

Rapidshare non-premium users do not get full speed either.

If the above is not the case, please let us know.

If you set full speed to your torrent, browsing and parallel download won't be easy. Reduce the speed to a lower value in your torrent client. It is like all the bandwidth is consumed by the torrent, hence no space for browsing connection.

As mentioned above rapidshare and other file sharing sites give a lesser speed to free users. Try a speed test from speedtest.net and post the screen shot. You can also try a download from Microsoft and check. They have one of the best servers available.

you could limit your torrent software to a certain download speed so it wont affect your browsing
