    Default Frequent disconnections

    Hi experts,

    We are having around 80 computers and having 3 airtel ( 512kbps) and 1 ( reliance ( 1 Mbps ) and 1 BSNL ( 1 Mbps) broadband connections.

The current network setup is as follows :

I have changed the gateway to all connections and assigned gateway as

    192.168.1.1,
    192.168.1.2,
    192.168.1.3,
    192.168.1.4
    192.168.1.5

I have assigned Ip addresses manually to all the computers

I am using cross cable between switches to share the files.

But, I am facing lot of frequent internet disconnections .

Please let me know is the above network setup is correct or is there any other way to setup network to avoid frequent disconnections.

Please let me know is anything I am doing wrong here.

    Thanks in advance.

    Manoj

Could you please describe your issue more specifically?

Is the disconnection occuring on all the connections? Are all the systems connected through wire? How many routers/switches are involved in the configuration? Which Operating System is installed on the Computers? Did the connections ever worked normally?

    Hi,

All systems are connected through wred only. We are using 5 modems and 5 switches . We r having XP / VIsta/ WIn2003 / WIn 2008 / Windows 7.

I am not sure in which line the disconnection is happening, At least once in a day the internet stops working that time we have to restart all the routers .

Also we are not switching of our routers , it will be running 24 /7.

    Thanks,

    Manoj

its definetly one of your connections which is unstable , it doesnt look like anything wrong with your network setup , but the quality of the tel conn . since from those 80 pcs , few pcs are connected to a certain gateway right? so find out which of those pcs have lost internet connection!!it would be a group of pcs with the same gateway. then find out the gateway ip and then you'll get to know which connections is unstable.. then check the SNR of that modem and the quality of the line

    HI ,

Thank you for your valuable suggestion.

I have checked all the modems and found one of the modem SNR margin value is 5.2 ( downstream) and 12.5 (Upstream) .

I called CC regarding the same. they will send the engineer to check the connectivity.

I think because of this internet is disconnecting very frequently.

I will update with the status tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Manoj

    5 ISP connections 3 : 512Kbps 2: 1mbps
80 computers ( Pseudo Static Ip adddresses )
switches. intern connected for file sharing .
    Problem :
At least once in a day the internet stops working that time we have to restart all the routers .
    All connections fail.

No idea how if one modem is bad all other's fail ! Interesting .

(a)mention the modem"s make and model.

    (b)
How many computers load to a single modem
at the same time via switches ?

    (c)
Are all the modems set to connect to any
ISP by changing the Rj11 input ?

    (d) show one switch connection from say Modem 1.
    and interconnections for each LAN.
    (e)
( how many ports available in switch 4 or 8 or 16 )
