    Default frequent loss of link

    hello friends..
    i have a BSNL connection..the link just disappears after sometime and the comes back again..
    i am totally fed up with the connection..
    even got the port and lines changed..but not help!!
    also the SDE says that since my house is around 5km from exchange broadband will not run smooth!!!
    are there any guidelines issued on distance??
    please help..

    Your line has problems obviously. You must ask them to change the port.

    Check your SNR and Line attenuation value from modem menu (Status pages). Post them here.

    Could also be a problem with your modem itself. I had a similar issue once wiht my Huawei modem, got my lines and everything checked, everything was perfect. Then I contacted BSNL CC, they suggested I get my modem changed since it was on rental.

    I applied for it and within 3 days of the application they changed it to a brand new modem. I haven't had a problem like this ever since.

    well the modem is not faulty for sure..coz the lineman came with another modem and that too showed similar problem..
    i have a huawei quidway wa 1003a modem..

    I had same issue in the beggining. Did you get the modem from BSNL? If so, Chances are very less that modem is having a Problem. Ask them to change the port.
    I know how Irritating it is to face this kinda problem...

    the port has already been changed..
    yup i got the moden from BSNL only..around 2 years back..and the performance of modem is great..i mean when the net works!!
